About me
I am a qualified and experienced integrative counsellor and have worked with NHS Lambeth both face-to-face and online. Having worked with the NHS, I provide a high-quality service of talking therapy, interweaving modalities such as Person-centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Being qualified as an integrative therapist allows me to offer a more flexible and inclusive approach, tailored to your unique needs.
Psychodynamic focuses on uncovering unconscious patterns in thoughts, feelings and behaviours, as well as any unconscious or unresolved conflict that may be maintaining the current difficulties, particularly in your relationships with others. We will work in the present with the challenges and feelings you are experiencing, but I also believe that our past has a strong influence on our pattern of relating and thinking as adults.
I also employ CBT (often at a later stage in your journey) to help the client identify any unhelpful or irrational thinking patterns, challenges with behaviours and responses. Additionally, I incorporate CBT strategies and tools to assist the client in adopting healthier thinking and behavioural patterns. I am a firm believer in collaborating with the client to initially gain self-awareness about their past, role in relationships, their internal or external locus of evaluation for CBT strategies to be truly effective. Primarily looking at the root cause to gain an understanding of our unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours, ultimately gaining a better understanding of ourselves, our reactions and responses to situations and others.
I offer a safe, confidential, non- judgmental space for individuals to explore their needs, thoughts and feelings. I believe it is so important that you feel valued, heard and understood. If this is your first time to therapy, I understand taking this first step can be quite an anxious one and for this reason I am happy to answer any questions by email or have a free of charge fifteen-minute telephone consultation to answer any questions you may have to ensure you feel comfortable taking that first step. This will provide you with the opportunity to decide if you wish for us to work together.
I am here to listen and can offer an alternative or new perspectives to help you work through difficult issues and discover your inner resources and potential.
My therapy style is personable and warm. As the relationship develops, I will gently challenge you in the interest of getting the best out of you and assisting you in stepping out of your comfort zones.
Additionally, I am a culturally attuned therapist and I believe it is important for clients to bring in their wider context such as culture, religion, race, sexual orientation, gender, oppression and world views as it is these fragments that contribute to the whole self of an individual.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

What to expect in our therapy sessions
I aim to create a safe and confidential space, offering weekly/ fortnightly sessions to ensure you get the most out of therapy, whilst going at your pace. I encourage your autonomy because you are responsible for yourself, and additionally, I strongly encourage you to bring your whole self to the therapy space to ensure I can both support and guide you through any difficult issues. We will carry out a one-off initial assessment to gain some insight around your needs from therapy and determine the nature of your issues. The first couple of sessions will allow us the space for us to build a rapport and an understanding of your life experiences and personal issues. We will explore your counselling goals and presenting issues with the consideration of how we may loosely structure the sessions moving forward, ensuring your needs are both prioritised and met.
Every few sessions, we will review how the therapy is going for you to ensure we are targeting your needs and working towards your counselling goals.
I also like to challenge my clients to offer different perspectives, however I will always check your comfortability levels around exploring issues.
