About us

Sometimes our feelings and thoughts feel tangled, repetitive, loud, or difficult to resolve. Perhaps things look ‘fine’ on the outside, but internally something feels unsettled, heavy, or hard to face. This can make it difficult to feel clearly, act freely, or trust ourselves.

I help people untangle what’s keeping them stuck so they can begin finding a way through it, with greater clarity and calm. At the heart of my approach is a simple idea: some things in life can’t be avoided, bypassed, or neatly solved. They have to be worked through. Not forced or rushed, but approached with the right support beside you. Therapy is often about finding the space, courage and steadiness to move through what feels difficult, rather than continuing to turn away from it.

My own therapy gave me something surprising when I needed it - not quick answers which rarely last, but a space where difficult things could be approached honestly, and without judgement. That experience helped shape my path into professional training and development.

Along with this my work in a range of helping and facilitative roles allows me to adapt thoughtfully to the person in front of me rather than working in a rigid or formulaic way.

Together, we make room to notice and understand what’s happening beneath the surface. With time, what once felt knotted or overwhelming can start to feel clearer, more manageable, and less defining. Clients often describe gaining greater clarity about their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Things that once felt stuck or overwhelming can begin to feel more workable. Rather than avoiding what feels difficult, people often find they are better able to move through it with greater confidence and self-understanding.

I remember that choosing a therapist can feel daunting. If you pay attention to how you feel as you read someone’s words or speak with them this will often guide you. Beyond qualifications, accreditation and theory, the sense of being understood and to be able to be yourself is often what makes the greatest difference, something that research consistently supports.

Even if you are unsure where to begin, you’re very welcome to get in touch to see if therapy is right for you and if we might be a good fit.

Experience

I support adults facing a wide range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, life transitions, relationship challenges, bereavement, low self-esteem, intrusive thoughts, and experiences of different types of abuse. I also work with people struggling with sleep difficulties, work-related stress, self-harm, or thoughts of suicide.

I also have particular experience supporting people through bereavement and loss, including over three years working with Cruse Bereavement Care. The loss of someone important can profoundly change how life feels. Grief can bring many different emotions, sadness, confusion, anger, numbness, or a sense that the world has shifted in ways that are difficult to understand. It rarely disappears with time alone. Instead, many people find themselves gradually learning how to live with their loss and what it means for their life moving forward.

I'm also aware that loss can also take many forms. While it may involve the death of a partner, family member, or pet, it can also include the end of a relationship, the loss of a job, or the loss of a way of life.

I provide a welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ and anyone who considers themselves part of the queer community.

What is a counselling session like?

Counselling with me is thoughtful, relaxed yet professional, and taken completely at your pace. We don't just have to talk, there are various techniques/tools we can use to take the pressure out of the session and find out what's going on in a more creative way. It really depends on what works for you and we will work this out together. Communicating is key, so we will check in regularly to discuss how the sessions are going and any adjustments we can make. Clients often describe gaining greater clarity about their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Things that once felt stuck or overwhelming can begin to feel more workable. Rather than avoiding what feels difficult, people often find they are better able to move through it with greater confidence and self-understanding.

What about the timing and format of the session?

We can get together in person, online and on the telephone, at various points during the week, including evenings. I work nationally, but for in person counselling, my counselling room is based in Albrighton (WV7, close to Telford and Wolverhampton). It's situated on the ground floor, with a slight slope on the approach and then a step into the room. It's accessible by foot or car, and there is a train station 5 minutes walk away. You can book weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on your needs, and we can change this as we go along.
