About us

The Counselling Partnership is an independent, local community charity. We are committed to improving mental well-being by providing professional, affordable one-to-one counselling to adults facing a variety of difficulties. These include depression, bereavement, anger, stress, anxiety, abuse, loss, phobias, post-traumatic stress, relationships, self-esteem, trauma and work or career-related issues.

We are an organisational member of the BACP and as such we follow its Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and its Complaints Procedure. Counsellors are members of the BACP or UKCP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the UK Council for Psychotherapy). All our counsellors are either fully qualified or at least two years into their training, and they have all gained their Certificate to Practise Each counsellor is DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checked and carefully selected before working with us. All counsellors' work is supervised to ensure a completely professional, appropriate, and ethical service.

Our volunteer counsellors have a wide range of skills and experience, and we carefully match the most appropriate counsellor to meet your specific needs.

We offer a six week block of counselling and some clients stay with us for up to a year. You can see a counsellor in our Walton on Thames premises, in Woking or online. In your initial consultation you will be asked what you are able to give every week as your contribution towards your counselling. It costs our charity around £55 to provide each counselling session (the cost of private counselling is usually £60 - £110) so we ask clients to give us as much as is manageable for you, based on your income and this is agreed with your counsellor.

Please get in touch with us via our enquiry form.

Training, qualifications & experience

Our counsellors are either fully qualified, or have at least two years training and are working towards further qualifications.
