About me
Hello, I’m Tanya.
There are times when life can begin to feel overwhelming. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, difficulties in your relationships, stress, or simply a sense that you have become stuck in patterns that are difficult to change on your own.
Whatever has brought you to therapy, you don’t need to have everything worked out before you begin. Therapy can offer you time to slow things down, explore what is happening and begin to understand yourself and your experiences with greater clarity.
I am an HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist working with adults and adolescents. My approach is person-centred, which means there is no set formula for how our sessions should look. We can work at a pace that feels manageable for you and focus on what feels most important.
Some people come to therapy with a particular difficulty they would like support with, while others may simply know that something doesn’t feel right. Both are valid places to begin.
How I Work
Talking can be an important part of therapy, but sometimes finding the right words can be difficult.
As an Art Psychotherapist, I can offer creative ways of exploring thoughts, feelings and experiences alongside talking therapy. You might choose to draw, paint, use collage or work with other materials as part of a session.
There is absolutely no need to be artistic or have any previous creative experience. The artwork isn't judged or interpreted based on how it looks. Instead, it can provide another way of expressing and exploring experiences that may be difficult to communicate through words alone.
For some people, art becomes an important part of their therapy. Others may prefer to talk. We can find an approach that feels comfortable and useful for you.
What can I support you with?
I have experience working therapeutically with adults and adolescents experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, stress, bereavement, low self-esteem, self-harm, social anxiety, neurodivergence and trauma.
Therapy can give you space to become curious about yourself — to notice patterns, understand your relationships and explore how past and present experiences may be affecting the way you feel today.
You won't be expected to change everything at once. We can take time to understand what is happening and consider what you might need moving forward.
Online and in-person therapy
I primarily offer therapy online, giving you the flexibility to access sessions from your own surroundings. For some people, being able to attend therapy from a familiar environment can make the process feel more comfortable and accessible.
Online sessions can also offer greater flexibility around appointments, including some morning and evening availability.
For those who prefer to meet face-to-face, I can also offer a calm, confidential space for in-person sessions.
Taking the first step
Choosing a therapist can feel like a big decision, and it is important to find someone you feel comfortable talking to.
I offer a free, no-obligation 20-minute telephone call. This gives you an opportunity to ask any questions, tell me a little about what you're looking for and get a sense of whether I might be the right therapist for you.
There is no pressure to commit to therapy following the call. If you would prefer, you can also contact me by email to arrange an initial session.
