About me
I’m Tami, a psychotherapeutic counsellor working with adults in Cambridge and online. My style is warm and reflective. You don’t need the right words to start, and there’s nothing you have to be ready to talk about before you are.
Together, we slow down enough to notice what’s actually going on beneath the surface, the part of you that’s been holding everything together, the part that’s tired, the part still carrying something older. I work with these different parts of you with curiosity rather than trying to fix or override them, an approach called Internal Family Systems (IFS). There’s no pressure to arrive with clarity. We find it as we go.
Over time, I see clients become more reflective and less quick to blame themselves, finding a genuine self-compassion that wasn’t there before. Some end relationships that had become toxic, and reclaim ownership over their own space, refusing to let it be contaminated any longer. Others find their way to a more settled relationship with their own desire and sexuality, less weighed down by shame about what they want or who they are. And often, some time into the work, something opens that neither of us expected, a part of their life they hadn’t been willing to speak about, or even sit with themselves, finally finding room to exist out loud.

Experience:
I’ve worked in both low-cost and private practice settings, including placements with the Affordable Counselling Network (ACN) and TherapEast, and as a volunteer counsellor with Sahar. This has given me experience across a wide range of presentations and ways of working, in person, online, and by text.
Registration
I’m a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) and work in line with their Ethical Framework. My work is clinically supervised and insured.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas I often sit with clients in: the complicated weight of a difficult mother relationship, family estrangement, questions of identity and belonging, self-worth, neurodivergence, and grief in its many forms. I’m also comfortable and non-judgemental around kink, sex, and sexuality.
I hold a particular interest in working with families navigating diagnosis and life with T1D, and the specific weight of parenting a child with medical needs, something I understand from lived experience as well as training.

Further information
My room is a quiet oasis tucked into the heart of King’s Parade, surrounded by independent shops, cafés and restaurants. The entrance is easy to find yet discreet. There is plenty of paid parking nearby, including metered spaces and the multi-storey car park in the Grand Arcade, with free parking on Trumpington Street (a five-minute walk) after 6:30pm. There are bike racks close by, and the Park & Ride bus stops nearby too.
I also offer sessions online via Zoom, wherever you are in the UK.
