About me

Well done! you have taken the hardest step and acknowledged that things aren't ok, this is where the healing begins. I am a warm and effective Therapist, who works on the basis that the problems we are struggling with can very often be traced back to our past relationships and experiences. I will gently yet firmly work alongside you to explore the origins of your emotional difficulties and help you change unhealthy patterns of relating. This should lead to real relief from the painful and uncomfortable thoughts and feelings you are currently experiencing.

I am a registered member of the BACP, I have a Masters in Therapeutic Counselling (2009), as well as 25yrs of working therapeutically in a number of leading London teaching hospitals.

I am also a certified Reiki healer, and a spiritual life coach

I work successfully with a wide number of issues including:

Anxiety and depression

Family issues

Loneliness
Relationships (including separation and divorce)
Infertility

Psychedelic integration work
Motherhood
Stress
Addiction
Self-esteem issues
Work difficulties

Personal Growth
and more…

I am also a specialised Sexual Health Therapist, and have a wealth of clinical experience working with issues that can carry strong feelings of guilt and shame. I provide an open and non-judgemental environment in which to work on experiences of:

  • HIV and other STI’s
  • Sexual identity
  • Infidelity
  • Sexual assault and rape
  • and more…

I work from my home in Balham/Streatham Hill, which helps me to provide a more nurturing environment than a traditional clinical setting. Your first session will be a loosely structured session, going at your pace, and will involve me finding out about the problems you are experiencing and what you would like to achieve.

Research overwhelmingly shows, that the greatest predictor of success in therapy is the strength of the connection between you and your Therapist. If something I have said here resonates with you, then do get in touch with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Having worked with another therapist before I was nervous about starting therapy with someone else. However, this has been the most valuable counselling I have had to date; Tamara is kind but firm and became a voice I could trust in my pursuit of reworking my unhealthy thought processes. Tamara is warm, non-judgemental and extremely supportive - I felt a connection with her straight away. After going through a tough time, as well as needing to work through some childhood trauma, I decided it was time for therapy and I'm so glad Tamara was the one I started this journey with. She opened my eyes to different ways of thinking and I really enjoyed our sessions together - tears, laughs and all. Sarah (28yrs) Freelance copywriter January 2021
