About me

Where you are now does not have to be where you are in 3 months, 6 months or a year! you have the power to change....and I would love to help!

I am a highly experienced Therapist and Coach who specialises in Trauma, Anxiety and Depression, Shame and Guilt and Relationship and Sex issues. I work particularly well with clients new to therapy.

I work on the basis that the problems we are struggling with can very often be traced back to our past relationships and experiences. By processing and making sense of these, we can provide you with relief in the present, and a foundation on which to create a future, in which you are thriving not simply surviving.

WHAT I CAN HELP WITH

I am well equipped to work with a wide variety of issues, some of which are listed below….

Anxiety and Depression, Trauma, Shame and Guilt, Relationship Difficulties, Breakups, Loneliness, Self Esteem Issues, Work related issues, Addiction, Sexual identity, Sexual wellbeing, HSV 1&2, Life transitions, Motherhood, Personal and Spiritual Growth, Psychedelic Integration and more.... (see: Areas of Counselling I Deal With)

HOW I WORK

I will gently yet firmly work alongside you to explore the origins of your emotional difficulties and help you change unhealthy patterns of relating. This will lead to real relief from the painful and uncomfortable thoughts and feelings you are currently experiencing.

My approach is primarily psychodynamic (looking at the past) and trauma based. I also employ; attachment styles theory, Shadow work, Inner child work, Acceptance and Commitment Theory, body based therapy, Mindfulness

OUTCOMES

By the end of working with me, the vast majority of my client’s report feeling significantly less troubled by their past, less anxious or depressed, more empowered, more at peace with themselves and those around them, having increased self-esteem, better coping strategies, healthier boundaries and deeper more satisfying intimate and work relationships. They also leave with a healthier, less rigid and more forward-thinking mind set, well prepared to reach their full potential in both their personal and professional lives.

MY EXPERIENCE

I have 25yrs of working therapeutically in a number of leading London teaching hospitals. I am a registered member of the BACP, I have a Masters in Therapeutic Counselling (2009), I am an ICF accredited Coach (2022) receiving my training from The Life Purpose Institute in California (USA). I am also a trained Psychedelic Integration Therapist and Coach (2024) Toronto Canada.

SEXUAL WELLBEING

I am a specialised Sexual Health Therapist, and have a wealth of clinical experience working with issues that can carry strong feelings of GUILT and SHAME. I provide an open and non-judgemental environment in which to work on experiences of:

  • HIV
  • Sexual identity
  • Infidelity
  • Sexual assault
  • Betrayal
  • HSV 1&2

WHERE I AM BASED

I work from my home in Balham/Streatham Hill. This helps me provide a more nurturing and confidential environment than some more traditional clinical settings.

 GOOD FIT?

Research overwhelmingly shows, that the greatest predictor of success in therapy is the strength of the connection between you and your Therapist. Do go-ahead and schedule a discovery call to seeif we are a good fit. Look forward to hearing from you get in touch with me.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Having worked with another therapist before I was nervous about starting therapy with someone else. Tamara is warm, non-judgemental and extremely supportive - I felt a connection with her straight away. After going through a tough time, as well as needing to work through some childhood trauma, I decided it was time for therapy and I'm so glad Tamara was the one I started this journey with. She opened my eyes to different ways of thinking and I really enjoyed our sessions together - tears, laughs and all. Sarah (28yrs) Freelance copywriter January 2021
