About us
Surrey Borders Counselling is a team of experienced, qualified counsellors offering a warm, confidential and professional space for individuals and couples.
We understand that people come to counselling for many different reasons. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationships, addiction, grief, trauma or simply feeling that something in your life needs to change.
Our therapists bring different areas of experience and ways of working, which means we can help you find someone who feels right for you. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we take time to understand what is happening for you and what you would like from therapy.
We offer counselling for a wide range of concerns including anxiety and depression, relationships, bereavement and loss, trauma, self-esteem, addiction and recovery, life changes and emotional difficulties.
Finding the right therapist matters. If you are unsure who within our team would be the best fit, you are welcome to get in touch. We can talk through what you are looking for and help match you with an appropriate counsellor.
We offer face-to-face counselling in Surrey and surrounding areas, alongside online sessions for those who prefer the flexibility of working remotely.
Training, qualifications & experience
All of our therapists are qualified to BA level, with Level 5 training in Psychodynamic Counselling, and are registered members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Alongside our core counselling training, each therapist brings additional experience, specialist training and areas of interest. Across the team, this enables us to work with a wide range of issues and to help clients find a therapist whose experience and approach feels right for them.
We are committed to ongoing professional development, regular clinical supervision and working within the BACP Ethical Framework.
Full details of each therapist’s qualifications, additional training and specialist areas can be found on our Surrey Borders Counselling website.
Member organisations *
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information
We know that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you are unsure what kind of therapy you need or which therapist might be right for you.
At Surrey Borders Counselling, you don’t need to have all of that worked out before getting in touch. As a team of therapists with different areas of experience and specialist interests, we can help you find someone who feels like a good fit.
We believe the relationship you have with your therapist is an important part of counselling. Our aim is to offer a space where you can speak openly, without judgement, and explore what is happening in your life at a pace that feels manageable.
We offer both face-to-face and online counselling, with daytime and evening appointments available.
If you would like to find out more about our therapists, their individual specialisms or how we work, please visit the Surrey Borders Counselling website or get in touch with us for an initial conversation.
