About me
Hello, I’m Steve, an integrative counsellor & psychotherapist offering online therapy for adults across the UK and internationally. I offer a calm, down-to-earth space for people who want to understand themselves more deeply, make sense of how their past has shaped them, and create meaningful change in their lives. Alongside this, I have specialist experience supporting neurodivergent clients and the LGBTQ+ community.
I work in a confidential, warm, respectful way to ensure that clients (18+), feel safe in their sessions, as I believe one of the key conditions for positive change is the quality of the relationship between client and therapist.
As a Senior Accredited BACP therapist, I draw on my extensive NHS & private practice experience as a fully qualified Psychodynamic Counsellor, EMDR Therapist and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT). I work with clients via weekly sessions to explore and understand the difficulty that’s troubling them, then together we work to find a more helpful way forward that is sustainable longer term.
My therapeutic style is Integrative, which utilises a variety of psychotherapeutic styles and techniques that are adapted to suit your needs.
Examples of issues I may support clients with:
Anxiety / Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), depression, low self-esteem/lack of confidence, relationship issues, attachment and loss, sexual orientation, anger, panic, gender identity, trauma, work/career issues, mortality/bereavement, sexual function, health anxiety, life changes/events, OCD, men’s issues.
I offer a no-cost 20-25 minute initial contact chat before committing to therapy. I am also able to accept clients who have policies with BUPA.
My practice is fully online. Please see my website for more information.
Best wishes,
Steve.
Training, qualifications & experience
My work experience as a therapist is a blend of charity, the NHS, and now a fully private practice.
My professional qualifications are:

- Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, University of Sussex (2019)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapist (EMDR) Parts 1, 2 & 3. EMDR Europe (2023)
In addition to the above, as a strong believer in lifelong learning, I undertake ongoing and comprehensive continuing professional development training and studies.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
