About us
Sorted Counselling Services are an established charity based in central Dunstable, supporting the emotional wellbeing of children and young people since 1996.
With our low cost self-funded option, we are able to offer counselling to children and adults aged 10 and above, providing a gentle, confidential space where they can talk openly and feel understood, available in person or online (16+).
Our counsellors are BACP-registered or closely supervised trainees, ensuring safe and ethical practice. We support a wide range of issues, including anxiety, low mood, confidence, stress, family or friendship difficulties, and general emotional wellbeing.
We offer low-cost self-funded counselling and use a range of therapeutic approaches. These include integrative counselling, which blends different evidence-based models (such as person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive approaches) to suit the individual needs of each client, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all method.
We also offer creative therapy techniques , such as drawing, play imagery, sand trays, or other expressive tools, to help young people who may find it difficult to communicate their thoughts and emotions through words alone.
Training, qualifications & experience
We have a dedicated team of around twenty counsellors with a wide range of training, qualifications, and experience. All of our fully qualified counsellors hold a minimum of a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling, with many progressing to complete a Level 5 Diploma or higher. In addition, our qualified practitioners have undertaken specialist training in counselling children and young people. Our team also includes trainee therapists in the final stages of their professional training, all of whom receive close, regular supervision.
As a trusted local charity, many of our referrals come directly from schools, CAMHS, Early Help teams, and other professionals who rely on us to provide safe, reliable support for the young people they work with. Collectively, our counsellors bring extensive experience in youth counselling, family work, school-based support, mental health services, and community settings, enabling us to offer a well-rounded and sensitive approach to a variety of emotional and wellbeing needs.

Additional information
Where appropriate, sessions can be provided by a trainee counsellor at a reduced fee of £30 per session. If we feel this is suitable, we will discuss it with you before allocating a counsellor. However, if you feel that working with a fully qualified counsellor would be better for the young person, that option is also available. This approach allows clients to access timely support while contributing to the training and development of future counsellors.
