About me

Hello and welcome, I'm Sophie.

I work with adults and young people experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, and the challenges of neurodivergence, including ADHD and autism. If you feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, struggling with low self-esteem, or worn down from coping alone, therapy can offer a supportive space to slow things down, make sense of your experiences, and feel understood.

Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, especially if you've been carrying things on your own for a long time. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, depression, loneliness, grief, relationship difficulties, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to understand. Whatever brings you to therapy, you don't have to face it alone.

My approach is integrative and relational, meaning I draw from different therapeutic models and tailor our work to suit your individual needs. I work in a trauma-informed way with clients experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, stress, bereavement and loss, family issues, relationship difficulties, the impact of abuse, and post-traumatic stress (PTSD). I also support clients experiencing difficulties with emotional regulation, anger management, confidence, identity, and self-worth.

Alongside my general counselling practice, I have a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent clients, including those who may be navigating burnout, masking, sensory overwhelm, emotional regulation difficulties, or a lifelong sense of feeling different or misunderstood.

At the heart of our work is a collaborative relationship built on trust, openness, and respect. I believe that feeling safe, accepted, and understood is essential for meaningful change and improved mental health. If you're considering counselling but feel unsure or nervous about taking the first step, that's completely okay. You're very welcome to get in touch to see whether working together feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

As an integrative Counsellor, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches including: Person Centred Theory, Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory and Psychodynamic concepts. I work collaboratively with you to shape sessions in a way that feels meaningful and helpful.

I hold a Level 4 CPCAB Diploma in Integrative Therapeutic Counselling and a Level 5 CPCAB Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

My experience includes trauma-informed work with adults and young people affected by anxiety, childhood trauma, and the impact of domestic and sexual violence. I have previously worked with Mind, supporting individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and loneliness, and as a school counsellor supporting young people through the challenges of adolescence.

Further training undertaken:

Understanding the inner child, working with neurodiversity, advanced safeguarding children etc.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
