About me
I am a qualified Gestalt therapist, working with individuals (aged 18+) both in Callander, nr. Stirling and online. I offer a compassionate and respectful therapeutic relationship, in which we work collaboratively to explore how your life and relationships are shaped by past experiences and patterns and support you to become more fully and creatively alive. Through expanding awareness of how we think, feel and act in the world, we can move towards fully inhabiting our choices and begin to challenge our fixed patterns and habits. This approach offers a holistic and creative way of exploring different aspects of our current existence and potential, broadening the possibilities for how we relate to ourselves and others, and enabling the exploration of new avenues for growth and change.
We all face times in our lives when we need extra support, and I enjoy working with people experiencing a wide range of issues and difficulties. My relationship with my clients is very important and I aim to make every client feel safe, respected and valued, with a commitment to confidentiality and appreciation of your autonomy. I offer a flexible approach tailored to the individual, incorporating levels of support and challenge appropriate to your point in the journey. I believe in the potential of each individual to heal and grow, and through my work, I accompany you on your journey to develop and realise that potential.
Please see my website for full details about how I work and for information about gestalt. You are welcome to get in touch if you would like an initial session with me to explore how we might be able to work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
- Four year Postgraduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy (2013-2017)
- COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills (2012-2013)
- MSc in International Health and Development, with a focus on mental health (2011-2012)
Since 2018 I have been employed by the Student Counselling Service at the University of Edinburgh, and have a wealth of experience working with young adults presenting with a wide range of issues. I have worked with women's organisations in particular, offering counselling for fertility issues, pregnancy loss and a variety of antenatal and post-partum mental health concerns. More recently I have worked for several years within the Rape Crisis Network, supporting survivors of sexual violence to understand and heal from the impact of trauma.
My professional background is in peacebuilding and human rights. Prior to training in Gestalt, I spent several years working with conflict affected communities in different parts of the world. It was through this experience that I developed my interest in how we move towards deeper healing, both for ourselves as individuals and for the communities of which we are part.
