About me
Hi, my name is Sofia, I am a Humanistic and Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. I value working with difference and diversity and believe that we are as unique as our experiences. I believe that our life experiences and our relationships shape who we are in the present day. Sometimes when life’s challenges present themselves, this can leave us feeling overwhelmed and sometimes cause us to feel stuck. Old coping strategies may no longer work and old habits can keep us from moving forward.
This is where therapy can help.
It takes courage to reach out for help and seek therapy, and I understand how daunting it can be to find a therapist you feel comfortable with. It’s a vital step, as the right therapeutic relationship can truly be life-changing. Therapy offers the opportunity to discover our true selves, process our life experiences and heal our past wounds. This opens up space to live life more authentically and experience your true potential. From my own experience, I have witnessed the healing potential of the therapeutic relationship, and I believe that with the right relational conditions, everyone has the capacity for positive transformation.
How I can help you?
My training allows me to integrate different theories of psychotherapy offering us a greater insight into your experiences and how this impacts you in the present. This also supports me to adapt to your individual needs and allows me to tailor my approach specifically for you. I will offer a warm, empathetic, and confidential space where I aim for you to feel truly heard and understood. By working at your pace, safely and ethically, I aim to build a consistent and secure relationship based on trust and rapport. I provide a non-judgmental environment where you can explore whatever you need and I will hold with compassion and respect. Together we will work collaboratively to explore your present challenges and underlying patterns. I will support you to make sense of your thoughts, feelings and experiences. Through asking reflective questions, I aim to deepen your self-awareness and support meaningful change towards growth and resilience.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have six years of experience working within front-line positions in charity organizations, such as complex needs and trauma, Domestic abuse victim practitioner and an intervention worker for people who use intimate partner abuse, I also work as a Mental Health Support Worker for the NHS.
I hold a higher certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling and I gained my BSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy, at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute. I gained my clinical experience working with victims of sexual abuse and mental health and trauma issues.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
