About me

Seeing Covid-19 vaccinated clients face to face at my home location as well as on line since 26th July 2021.

Sometimes the fear of being judged can hold us back from seeking help and advice, and in resisting we fail to be true to ourselves and embrace the possibilities a positive practical step that Counselling and Psychotherapy can offer

I am a Psychotherapist, Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Certified Transactional Analyst (TA) with a Masters in TA Psychotherapy. TA draws upon Humanistic, Relational and Cognitive Behavioural approaches, this permits me to tailor therapy to your individual requirements in a non-judgmental and caring way while keeping in focus your personal goals and reasons for seeking therapy.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

UK Council for Psychotherapy

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

CULTURAL ISSUES: I also have particular experience individuals and couples from multi-faith and multicultural backgrounds together with the challenges that might arise from this. I have worked with clients of all ages 18 through to 70+.

TRANSITION INTO LATER LIFE: Approximately 23% of the population are over 60, however predictable this involuntary transition maybe, its influence on personal health and well-being is often overlooked. Typical issues may be : A missing sense of self Questioning ones role in life Changing family roles Finance worries Loneliness Sex Senior Separation / Divorce Disappointment Ill Health Fear Regret Loss of Independence Being heard & seen Society Prejudice / conditioning Relationships (Beginnings & Endings) Conscious ageing

CANCER CARE GIVERS: often wait in silence watching powerlessly as a loved ones; possibly a child, sibling, parent, spouse or partner, endure. Often this can feel like a form of torture not just to the sufferer, but for the carer who witnesses it also, yet what right do they have to complain, to feel sad, or to even comment on the experience? However, experiencing extreme emotional, physical or sometimes life-threatening traumas like these can result in feelings of anxiety, which may eventually interfere with daily life. Resulting in both sufferers and caregivers possibly experiencing one or more of the following symptoms: • Nightmares and or strange unsettling dreams • Avoidance of places, events such as hospital appointments and even people that might remind them of treatment. • Feelings of hopelessness • Trouble sleeping or concentrating • Difficulty feeling or understanding emotions • Apparently unexplained fear, irritability, or anger • Loss of interest in activities and even relationships that used to be enjoyable These symptoms can be triggered by key life events, which typically include the initial cancer diagnosis or the subsequent diagnosis of advanced cancer, repeated treatments, lengthy hospital stays or anticipating and witnessing repeated crucial test results. If you have experienced any of these symptoms or anxieties, you likely you may feel quite alone so it’s important to seek help and advice.

EMPLOYMENT DIFFICULTIES: Often our challenges and problems have their origins outside of the workplace but sometimes it can also our relationship with it. Levering the principles of transactional analysis in combination with my skills and experience gained in Industry over 20 years, I would aim be to work with you in order to help you meet both your personal and professional goals within the context of Career Advancement, Career Change, Work related stress and Redundancy.
