About me

I'm an Integrative Counsellor which means I use many modalities and theories in my work. This means I have multiple therapeutic techniques to meet your individual needs. I offer short/long-term therapy and I can help you explore and identify your concerns and help you work towards positive change. I am here to listen and not judge, you will be fully accepted, heard and understood. I believe in compassion, empathy and self-awareness in order to heal psychological wounds that help us to find coping mechanisms and reach our full potential.

How can Counselling help ?

Every service providing counselling support continually provides evidence that confirms that counselling enables people who are struggling with their mental health. Counselling will make a positive impact on your life, it can make a positive difference to you day to day life, intermediate and could also have an enduring effect that could last a life time.

I provide a warm supportive environment for you to feel safe to explore whatever challenges you may be currently facing. Working together might include exploring your past, present and future. I believe we all have potential for growth, to find meaning and purpose. My therapy will build on your inner strength and resources, to help you navigate life with clarity and resilience.

What to expect from the first session:

The initial assessment session (approximately 30 mins - free) gives us a chance to meet and see if we can and want to work together as I believe the counsellor and client relationship is very important.

The following full session (60 mins) is where, according to what feels comfortable with you, we can look at your history and concerns, begin to explore to help you move forward with your problems in a more positive way. Some issues can be resolved quickly - around 8 sessions, other more complex issues may require us to work together for longer but you will be always in control.

I have a wide range of experience, some of my experience includes anxiety and depression, GAD, OCD, PTSD, family and relationship difficulties, divorce, self harm, bullying, work-related stress, intrusive thoughts and grief and loss. I have worked with people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities and all ages from young adult up to older adults. I also have experience of working with young adults and adults with neurological adversity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
