About me
Hello and welcome to my profile.
My name is Sharon and my counselling practice is called SCM Therapy, 'Solution Creative Mind'
Working for a number of years as a counsellor for a charity and private practice. I understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming, painful, or confusing. I believe that within each of us lies the capacity to understand our experiences and emotions and to move towards positive change. What we often need is the right environment to support that process.
I offer a warm, non-judgemntal, confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship, a space set apart from the demands of daily life, where you can begin to explore whatever may be causing you distress, whether rooted in the past, present, or future. Together, we will reflect, make sense of your experiences, and work towards the changes you seek.
I work with adult individuals and young adults (aged 16+), offering support across a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. These include, but are not limited to:
- Anxiety
- Bereavement and loss (including less visible losses such as end of a relationship/affair)
- Depression and Low mood
- Emotional overwhelm and confusion
- Emotional and sexual abuse and its ongoing impact
- Low self-esteem
- Relationship issues
- Stress

- A registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I offer a free initial telephone conversation, usually around 15 minutes, to give us the opportunity to discuss what’s bringing you to counselling, answer any questions you may have about the process, and get a sense of how we might work together.
Finding the right counsellor and feeling a sense of connection is a vital part of a successful therapeutic relationship, and this informal call can be a valuable first step in that journey.
