About me

You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply not quite yourself. Perhaps you’re navigating a change in your life, feeling disconnected from who you are, or carrying the weight of traumatic experiences that are hard to put into words.

Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m Sarah of SW Counselling and Trauma Support. My role is to walk alongside you. Together, we can create a calm, comfortable space where you can pause, explore, and gently begin to make sense of what’s happening, working at your own pace.

My approach is warm, relational, and collaborative. I believe counselling works best when you feel at ease to be yourself, without pressure or judgment. You’ll be met with warmth, kindness, and a genuine curiosity about your world. There’s no right or wrong way to show up, just a space where all parts of you are welcome.

As a pluralistic counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on your unique needs. You may be thinking, “But Sarah, I’m not sure what I need,” and that’s completely okay, too. We can work together to explore and gently blend different ways of working until we find something that feels right for you.

My work is grounded in person-centred and trauma-informed values, which means I work with warmth, empathy, and respect for your pace. You stay in control of what we explore, and together we’ll focus on safety, understanding, and helping you find your way forward.

At times, life can feel heavy and confusing. You may find yourself stuck in patterns of thoughts or emotions that are hard to shift, or struggling to make sense of your experiences. Together, we can explore what feels difficult right now, from developing a deeper understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and reactions to focusing on coping strategies that help you feel more grounded day-to-day. My aim is to help you feel supported and understood, and to offer a steady presence as you reflect, recover, and rediscover your peace.

If something here resonates with you, I’d really love to hear from you. It’s completely okay if you’re not sure where to start. Many people begin by simply saying, “I just don’t want to feel like this anymore,” and together we can begin there.

When you feel ready, please do reach out. You’re welcome to get in touch with any questions, or we can have a gentle, no-pressure chat to see how it might feel for us to work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist, and an accredited registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), working in line with their ethical framework. I hold a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling Practice (Prof. Dip Psy C.) and am also a member of the Association of Mental Health First Aiders.

I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake CPD training to deepen my knowledge and skills. My specialist training includes:

  • Trauma
  • Sexual violence
  • Child abuse
  • Managing suicide risk
  • Self-harm
  • Grief
  • Postnatal depression
  • Menopause

My counselling background includes working with victims/survivors of sexual violence and abuse, as well as supporting people through a wide range of emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, and life transitions.

Alongside my counselling practice, I have gained valuable experience in the charity sector, working in wellbeing roles to support individuals in the community and providing frontline support through helpline work. These roles have strengthened my ability to listen with empathy, respond sensitively to crisis situations, and offer both practical and emotional support in diverse contexts.
