About me

Hi my name is Sarah, I am a fully trained and qualified Integrative Counsellor.

If you are reading this then it’s safe to assume that you, or someone you are close to, might be struggling at the moment. Maybe you have decided it is time to deal with something that has been on your mind for a while, perhaps you have been through or are going through something difficult and need some support. Maybe you don’t know what is wrong, you just feel unhappy or unsettled (this is not uncommon by-the-way!) Whatever you are stuck with, what I aim to provide for you is a safe space to open up, slow things down and work things through. Let’s figure it out together.

There are lots of ways of understanding why we, as human, behave the way we do in adult life. Why some people are able to cope with things that others can’t and why we all feel things so differently. As an integrative therapist I have taken an interest in a few of these approaches instead of specialising in just one. This helps me to be flexible to suit your individual situation. I take a person centred approach to my work which means that YOU and the relationship that we develop are at the centre of the work. Whatever you bring to the table, you will not be judged, I will listen with acceptance, understanding and positive regard.

We might work together to understand why you behave the way you do as a grown up, making connections together back to your childhood or difficult events in your life. Making these connections and organising your thoughts can in itself bring peace of mind. Of course sometimes there is no fix, there are times when the best we can do is accept something that is difficult and sit with the discomfort. This is harder to do than it sounds, I can help.

If you think I might be the right therapist for you, give me a call or drop me an email, we can arrange a free 20 minute intro session and go from there. I work on a 1 to 1 basis from a lovely little room in Bromsgrove, Nr Kidderminster. I can also offer telephone appointments.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
