About me

Counselling is about creating a safe, relaxed and informal space where you feel comfortable to talk. We all see the world though our own experiences and have developed our ways to cope. Being able to learn about a client’s life is a huge privilege, one that allows me to work with every person in a way that suits them.

I have trained as a person-centred counsellor and have had a very varied life with many ups and downs and some moments that went sideways! My own challenges, mistakes and achievements in life have combined with the knowledge and qualifications in counselling skills that allow me to provide that safe space to talk.

For 25 years I supported older people to remain at home when becoming frail, they taught me to meet people where they are in life, with kindness, no judgement and often with humour. I understand what it is like to feel alone, isolated, depressed or anxious and know the power of being able to talk confidentially.

I have had the pleasure of working with people in a supportive capacity for 35 years and find that we are all have something in common, no matter our backgrounds. My training, but also my life experiences, allow me to provide you with a space where you can relax and take the time to explore what it means to be you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
