About me

Hello, I’m Sarah, a fully qualified integrative counsellor working face to face and online with adults (aged 18+). Whatever you’re dealing with right now, I will listen with kindness, empathy and without judgement, providing a calm, respectful space for you to explore what’s going on for you.

I believe effective counselling comes from a trusting relationship where you feel comfortable enough to share. With that in mind, I’ll always work at your pace with gentleness and consideration to establish and build trust, working alongside you to explore your thoughts and feelings.

You may be struggling with stress, anxiety or low mood, or maybe you’re experiencing grief or major life or relationship changes, like divorce or retirement. Perhaps work pressures have got too much and you’re feeling overwhelmed? You may not be able to share how you’re feeling with loved ones and so being able to speak to someone independent and professional can help you make sense of things.

As an integrative counsellor, I have trained in different therapeutic modalities. Everyone is unique and comes to counselling with different needs and expectations so I’ll be guided by you and will adapt the counselling to suit you. Together we can explore ways to help you move forward and make the changes you need.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) working within their ethical framework with regular Supervision to support my practice. I have a BACP approved Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Awarding Body (CPCAB). I have worked as a counsellor with Mind since 2023. Before training as a counsellor, I worked for many years in the corporate world in a variety of roles and often draw on my life experiences, as well as my training when working with clients.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I know choosing a counsellor and taking that first step to reach out can be daunting and it’s important for you to find someone you can relate to. I offer a free, no obligation 15-minute call so we can get to know each other a little, talk about what you’re looking for from counselling and what I can offer. This helps you decide if I’m the right counsellor for you and it's also an opportunity to answer any questions you may have.

The number of sessions can vary depending on your needs. I offer short-term therapy (usually up to 12 sessions), focussing on immediate solutions or longer-term work where you can explore in more depth.

I work face to face in Sevenoaks and Crowborough and online.
