About me
I find this work incredibly rewarding. Connecting with another person and uncovering the reasons behind their thoughts and actions inspires me. Helping them understand their feelings during overwhelming times or after significant experiences that have changed their usual way of functioning is a powerful and transformative journey.
I work in different ways depending on why you are coming to me.
It might be that you have experienced a single event or subject that you need to work through, it may be that you usually cope, but this is different; this needs untangling, understanding and finding ways to navigate the way forward, I offer a single session lasting 90/105 mins for £60, you are welcome to come back and have further sessions, my charge for a counselling hour/ regular session is £45.
For so many people, things build up, we keep coping, we keep going, but it isn’t sustainable. We notice we are not happy, and we can struggle with anxiety and low self-worth. Our relationships suffer, physical illness and burnout. It is hard to talk to people close, as you may feel you can't be completely honest with them, due to a variety of reasons. I find that my clients are strong individuals who care for others, often leaving themselves with nothing and merely getting through life. If you would like to find more peace inside and quieten the noise, then we can work together to find the patterns that are holding you back and your way forward or to work through past experiences.
You can come and go as you please; It may work for you to see me weekly, fortnightly or whenever suits. Real change takes time when it has been a long-term habit or a personality trait, like people- pleasing or fear of change. Investing in you and your future is a brave and positive step forward. I love helping my clients see new possibilities in their lives that they never thought possible, career changes, healthy relationships, positive body image and a good, balanced self-esteem.
I have been working for a Mental Health Charity since 2015, supporting in various roles, from preventing suicide, specific support groups, wellbeing courses and Management. I am the lead for Trauma Risk Management (TRiM). I have worked with the Care System in Shropshire, supporting staff in the NHS and Shropshire Council. I have supported hundreds of people after traumatic events, including COVID-19, major traffic accidents and life-changing disability or constant work stress. I have experience working with people with early life trauma, which has held them back from thriving, helping them to rebuild their confidence and belief in themselves and make life choices that will help them achieve their aims. Explaining various support techniques to build their personal tool kit and resilience before doing the deeper work.
I am qualified and experienced in working with grief and loss. This has a broad reach, from the death of someone close, suicide, long-term care of a loved one, loss of a marriage, job loss, disability and many more. I help you to come to terms with the change or help you to find a new way to live, as we thrive with connection, and a loss can turn us inward.
I spent a year counselling people in a women's refuge, many years working for a bereavement charity, and I have had various training in Mental Health, MH First Aid and Emergency First Aid. I continually take extra training and regular Supervision.
I enjoyed a 2-year Shamanic Practitioner training course, completed in 2008, and various energy training that informs how I work, holistically looking at mind, body and spirit/soul.
We can sit outside, walk around the grounds or walk in the nearby fields, weather permitting.
My focus is on helping you find your inner voice, your life's purpose and your unique way to heal and shine. I work with you to explore your potential and develop your inner resources and creativity. Helping you work through your feelings and change negative energy into a creative direction.
I am based at Broadmeadow Holistic Centre, 10 miles south of Shrewsbury on the A49, surrounded by trees, fields, horses, goats, dogs, chickens, a stream, and even a stone circle, with beautiful views of the South Shropshire Hills.
I have a private caravan, which is relaxing, spacious and a safe space. This is not shared, and the location keeps your privacy. There is adequate parking right next to my room, or if you are being dropped off and picked up, they can spend time in the nearby Pound Inn or walking in the countryside at Broadmeadow.
There are 3 steps to get into my room, and the toilets are nearby.
I provide one-off or regular meetings to suit your needs.
