About me
Trauma can affect anyone, at anytime, and can leave us constantly overwhelmed by our emotions, often resulting in feeling lost, alone and hopeless. I offer gentle, compassionate trauma therapy in Taunton, Somerset and online across the UK, supporting you to feel safer, more grounded, and able to reconnect with yourself.
Trauma Therapy in Taunton & Online Across the UK
Welcome to Ember Sky Therapy. I am a BACP Registered counsellor specialising in trauma therapy, offering both in-person sessions in Taunton and online therapy to clients across the UK. I work particularly with people who have experienced:
- Childhood trauma, child abuse or emotional neglect
- Sexual assault, rape and domestic abuse
- Long-term, chronic stress or nervous system overwhelm
- PTSD and complex PTSD
You don’t need to have a clear understanding of your experiences to begin, many people come feeling confused, disconnected, or unsure of where to start and that’s ok.
Ember Sky Therapy - Finding Hope
Through my practice, I strive to create a place where your story will be heard, where warmth and comfort can be found, and where we can step out of the darkness of pain and let the embers of hope light up the sky.
I offer talking-based trauma therapy, but draw on a range of methods and approaches that might help including;
- Compassion Focused Therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Trauma Focused CBT
- Psychodynamic Counselling
We will work together to tailor-make the kind of support which works best for you, whether you want online therapy or in-person sessions, we will go as slowly and as gently as you need.
Healing from Childhood Trauma and Abuse
I am deeply committed to supporting the healing and recovery for survivors of childhood trauma and child abuse. Growing up in an environment where we did not feel safe, where those who should love and protect us, let us down, means that often we never establish feelings of safety or connection.
You may recognise:
- Feeling constantly on edge or hypervigilant
- Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe in relationships, including your relationship with yourself
- A sense of emptiness, shame, or low self-worth
- Feeling stuck in constant survival mode
In trauma therapy, we begin by building safety and stability, helping you to feel more grounded and supported before exploring deeper experiences.
How Trauma Can Affect You
Traumatic events rob us of our sense of safety, it makes us believe that because bad things have happened to us in the past, then they are guaranteed to always happen. This can mean we feel like life isn't worth living, that we can't carry on and that we will always be suffering and in pain, but this isn’t true. If you went through something traumatic then, you might be experiencing;
- Anxiety attacks or panic attacks
- Flashbacks, nightmares or intrusive memories
- Depression or feelings of hopelessness
- Self-harm or thoughts of suicide
- A sense that you can’t move forward or that things will never change
These responses are not signs that you are broken or that there is something wrong with you, they are understandable reactions to everything that you have been through. With the right support, it is possible to begin making sense of these experiences and gently move towards healing.

Alongside trauma therapy, I also provide counselling to support in work with:

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I am consciously aware of the challenges for those entering into therapy, and I offer a flexible way of working with both weekly and fortnightly sessions available. I appreciate how scary the thought of opening up can be, and therefore work to establish a positive relationship before we even start. If you are curious about what to expect or even if you aren't sure if counselling is for you, then please reach out. I am happy to chat by phone or email to answer any questions and to help you feel as comfortable as possible before beginning.
