About me

I am an accredited CBT therapist with a wealth of experience in helping both adults and young people recover from a wide range of emotional difficulties including depression and anxiety.

I have huge respect for anyone taking the step towards accessing therapy and I am confident that working together we can help resolve any emotional difficulties you might be facing. Using CBT’s structured and active format, and evidence based treatment interventions, I can help you develop the knowledge and skills needed to create real and lasting change to your life.

I am also an EMDR therapist working towards accreditation and I use this to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives which have led to poor mental health.

As well as private practice I also currently work within NHS Talking Therapies.

I am based at Beverley Counselling & Psychotherapy (www.beverleytherapy.co.uk) and my sessions are £70 per hour.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and please do not hesitate to get in touch with me to discuss next steps.

About CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT encompasses a range of talking therapies based on the idea that thoughts, feelings, what we do, and how our bodies feel, are all connected. If we change one of these, we can alter all the others. When we are low or upset, we often fall into patterns of thinking and responding which can worsen how we feel. CBT works to help us notice and change problematic thinking styles or behaviour patterns so we can feel better. CBT works for lots of different people and problems such as depression and various anxiety issues including OCD, social anxiety, excessive worry, panic attacks, phobias, PTSD, health anxiety, and so on. It is widely recommended by national treatment guidelines across the UK, EU, and North America.

About EMDR

Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful scientifically proven psychotherapy to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives which have led to poor mental health. Internationally recognised, EMDR therapy is endorsed by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE); the World Health Organisation (WHO); The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies; the NHS (in the UK); and many other bodies.

EMDR therapy is best known for treating PTSD but can help with a range of mental health conditions in people of all ages including depression and anxiety.
