About me

No problem or difficulty is too big or too small.  If it is troubling you, then it is worth working through in therapy.

Much of what troubles people revolves around relationships, including the one you have with yourself.  Psychotherapy can help you make sense of your problems within the broader context of understanding your identity and how you experience yourself.  It helps you move past self-doubt; gaining resilience and knowledge of healthy and fulfilling changes that better support you.  Ultimately, you uncover more of 'you' and become more at ease in your decision-making process.

What I offer:

Whilst I don't give advice, I do offer a fresh perspective, insights and  feedback where this will be therapeutically beneficial.  We work together collaboratively to manage, process, and work through your difficulties.

It's important you find the right therapist, someone you feel you will be able to trust and open up to over time.  I offer a free of charge 30 minute initial meeting to help inform your decision about working with me, or a brief phone call if you prefer.  This wouldn't be a therapy session, but a chance for you to let me know a little more about you and why you're seeking psychotherapy at this time, and for you to gain a sense of me and how I work.  From here we can consider if my service is appropriate for your needs and if you would like to come for a fuller assessment meeting in person.  This will provide a further opportunity to consider working together on your difficulties and if my therapeutic approach would be helpful for you.

I'm an Integrative psychotherapist with extensive training and experience in working with clients at depth.  I am BACP Accredited and UKCP Registered.  As well as private practice, I have worked in the charity sector, higher education, and as a high intensity therapist within NHS IAPT services.  I work with adults aged 18+.

I can support you to better understand the things that are troubling you, helping you gain understanding about why you are feeling stuck, or experiencing a low mood, or feeling worried or anxious - perhaps about relationships or a situation, or it might be one of any number of things that bring distress or a sense of unease.

Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and we would meet each week.  I am based in East Leake, LE12 with easy access from Loughborough and Nottingham and 15 minutes from the M1.  I work from a very comfortable, self-contained annex at my home which has a private entrance and driveway parking.

Training, qualifications & experience

MSc Integrative Psychotherapy - The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute/Staffordshire University

BSc Humanistic and Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy - The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute/Coventry University

Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision - The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, Nottingham

I have over 12 years experience, providing psychotherapy in private practice, the charity sector, higher eduction, and NHS IAPT services

I'm approved by SPTI as a training therapist and supervisor for trainees on the BSc and MSc programmes.

I provide medium and long-term psychotherapy.

I regularly work with issues such as:

  • anxiety
  • depression
  • feeling sad
  • low self-esteem
  • abuse - sexual/physical/emotional
  • bereavement
  • sexual identity
  • stress
  • emotional trauma
  • childhood trauma/emotional neglect

These are an example of the difficulties some clients bring to therapy.  You might have something different you want to talk about, and that's okay.  I am open to listening to whatever it is that troubles you.

Taking the next step...

Please get in touch to arrange a no obligation free of charge introductory meeting of 30 minutes, or a 15 minute phone call.  This would not be a therapy session, but a time to let me know what brings you to therapy and for us to consider if my service is right for you.  I aim to offer an appointment within a few days of you making contact.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Please contact me using the email link below or on 07925 430018

I'm mindful of how difficult it can feel to seek support, particularly at times of distress and vulnerability - I hope to make you feel comfortable in taking the first step in arranging to come and meet with me.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
