Ruth White BA, BSc, MBACP (Accred.) - Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Supervisor
Hi, my name is Ruth and I offer counselling, psychotherapy and clinical supervision to adults aged 18+.
As an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist, I support clients to look at their current issues as well as consider deeper levels of experience that may be contributing to their difficulties. Looking into the influence of past experience holds the potential to bring about greater self-awareness and lasting changes in your life.
I am experienced in providing short, medium and long-term counselling and psychotherapy for clients both within my private practice and within several organisations (including EAP's, the charity sector and with NHS referrals). I take a responsive therapeutic approach based on your individual needs, background and culture. I support you to discuss your concerns in a warm, accepting and professional environment.
I understand that talking about painful experiences can be difficult, but doing this within an emotionally safe relationship provides you with a real opportunity for new possibilities and for the changes you wish to make.
Some of the concerns clients regularly bring to therapy are:
- anxiety/generalised anxiety disorder
- problems in relationship/s (this may be in a relationship with yourself, or with others)
- self-esteem issues
- abuse - sexual/physical/emotional
- sexual identity difficulties
- work stress/difficulties
- emotional trauma
- childhood issues that continue in adult life
I am open to listening to whatever you choose to bring to therapy.
Where do the sessions take place?
During the current COVID-19 situation all therapy is conducted online through Zoom.
My comfortable therapy room is a self-contained, purpose-built annex at my home and has its' own private entrance.
I am based in East Leake, South Nottinghamshire, within 20 minutes of Loughborough, LE12, and 25 minutes of Nottingham city centre NG1; on the South Notts. No.1 bus route. There is driveway parking, as well as free street parking.
I am a qualified supervisor (post-graduate level 7). I work with both qualified and trainee supervisees.
If you are interested in supervision for yourself or if you are part of a group seeking supervision, please see my supervision profile for more information.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
