Child Psychotherapist Play Therapy Family and individual

About me

You may be concerned about your child for many different reasons — perhaps they are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement, behavioural difficulties, or simply finding the stresses of life hard to manage.

As a child psychotherapist, I help children and adolescents make sense of what they are experiencing and help parents and carers understand and respond to them in ways that can be more helpful. Children do not always communicate through words. Play, art, drama, talking, listening and sometimes simply being alongside someone can all provide ways for a child to express what is difficult to put into words.

I offer individual and family sessions, face to face across Devon and Cornwall. My work may sometimes involve specialised play therapy, particularly with younger children, but the approach is tailored to each child and family.

Sometimes it is most helpful to work with a child and their parent or carer together, focusing on their relationship and helping them understand each other. At other times, one-to-one work gives a child the space they need to explore things at their own pace.

I have over 25 years’ experience working in the NHS, including CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services), and I bring this specialist experience to my private practice.

The first meeting is free of charge and provides an opportunity for us to talk about your concerns, understand what might be helpful and decide together whether further sessions would be appropriate.

If you are concerned about your child and would like to talk things through, please email me and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
