About me
Welcome to my profile, I am Rosie, an Integrative Counsellor and Interpersonal Psychotherapist. I work online and in person from Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
The people I work with are often interested in trying to understand themselves and their issues at a deeper level. I offer the space to work at a pace that feels right for you, and take a closer look at what is causing you distress in order to bring about sustainable change and personal growth.
Relational and interpersonal therapy is an effective way to explore thoughts, feelings and relational issues collaboratively. I offer attuned support and a setting to make sense of your issues and difficulties. I provide thoughtful and compassionate support, where appropriate I may challenge well established and problematic ways of being through curious questioning.
We can carry outdated beliefs about ourselves, what we expect from others, and our place in the world - often based on early and formative life experiences. Difficult life experiences can give rise to these beliefs or impact on your capacity to deal with challenges in the here and now. Therapy can offer the chance to explore and challenge the ways that you relate to yourself and your others - with an emphasis on building inner resources and emotional capacity.
You may feel stuck in patterns of problematic relationship dynamics, have come to expect rejection or abandonment and hide away from life as a result. You may be highly self-critical and have an internal dialogue telling you; 'you aren't good enough'. You may be struggling to feel your way through a loss or navigate a transition in life. I provide a safe setting for therapy where together we can explore issues carefully, without judgement. You maybe be experiencing generalised anxiety, low self-confidence, social anxiety, chronic anger or depression. Relational therapy can support you in developing insight, to alleviate symptoms and create the opportunity for new possibilities moving forward.
Sitting with and working through your issues with a trusted person can offer room for clarity, understanding and acceptance. Of course, at times therapy may feel challenging as part of the process of contemplating life's difficulties. However, it is often a deeply rewarding and worthwhile process when the time feels right.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP Accredited Relational Counsellor (Integrative) and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapist (Accredited by The Anna Freud Centre).
Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT) is an NHS Talking Therapies (NICE Guidelines Approved) Psychodynamic approach. Typically delivered over 16 sessions, and supports people with issues stemming from relationships (past and present). There is a focus on unconscious processes, inner conflicts, attachment and problematic relational patterns.
I integrate a depth of understanding, awareness and breadth of experience into my relational work. I draw from both therapeutic modalities, as well as continuous personal and professional development to provide effective therapeutic support.
I am a qualified and experienced Counsellor working with adults from diverse backgrounds across West Yorkshire. Specifically working in Women's services in the NHS and Charity sector.
I have a trauma-informed approach and work at a safe and considered pace that feels right for you. I consider the impact of trauma on the body, mind and behaviour. Trauma and adverse experiences can lead to life feeling overwhelming and threatening, and this can often include relationships. I have worked with complex-trauma, trauma and the impact of domestic abuse.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
