About me

From time to time most of us will find ourselves being overwhelmed or confused by our experience of life.  Friends and family can be there to support us, but it may be helpful to talk to someone independent of your close circle.  It may even be, that those close to you feel like the cause of your difficulties.  I offer a different way of exploring life's struggles.

You may have a very specific challenge you are facing, perhaps a loss, change of circumstance, or relationship difficulties.  Perhaps you are experiencing a more existential sense of feeling lost in life.  I can help you explore what is going on and help you to find a more settled and stable way of being.

I offer support with many issues including:

Abuse, Addictions, Anger management, Anxiety, Bereavement, Child related issues, Cultural issues, Depression, Eating disorders, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Obsessions, OCD, Phobias, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self-esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Work related issues

Training, qualifications & experience

We are all different and yet still connected.  I bring different approaches to suit each person I work with but my practice is underpinned by a solid grounding in existential philosophy.  This academic study is backed up by a practical, and importantly relational approach to exploring each persons experience of navigating life with all its joys and struggles.  It is from this exploration of howwe relate both to the world and those that live in it that we can find a way to understand ourselves and find clarity.  I come from a creative arts background, this gives me a particularly collaborative and imaginative approach to working alongside my clients.  I invite mutual respect and a shared open curiosity when exploring the client's experience of relationships and their world.  I find this is often a way of revealing parts of ourselves we have not been able to see before.  I offer a spacious, respectful environment to find answers to life's challenging questions.

I began my clinical training with a PGDip in integrative psychotherapy.  I then went on to complete my MA in Psychotherapy & Counselling following an existential-phenomenological pathway, before completing a further PGCert in Existential Psychotherapy.

Whilst working with an organisation in South Oxfordshire I was able to complete an adolescent training and go on to have experience working with young people over fifteen.  I also worked with a wide range of clients whilst volunteering for the mental health charity MIND

I have well established private practices in both central London and Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire.

Sessions are fifty minutes, once a week.  I offer face-to-face sessions from my therapy rooms in London and Hertfordshire.  I am also able to offer sessions via Zoom.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
