'Rob, thanks so much for listening to and really seeing me. I appreciate your empathetic ear and approach to communication/therapy. It's so helpful to get to the core of my why and feelings.' Kathleen
'Thank you Rob, you really made me feel comfortable for a first session. It felt safe & natural opening up to you. I appreciate the delivery of the session, it really felt like I had the floor. You've given me some real food for thought, I actually feel somewhat lighter even after just that one session. I expected maybe to tighten up and not be able to share, that wasn't the case. I certainly didn't expect to be able to smile and at one point even laugh. So thank you.' Dan
'my soul feels about 20 tonnes lighter, thank you as always for helping me seeing my hidden wounds' Rebecca
I have a BA (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling and am, therefore, able to provide the right environment for the change you need to occur and one that is at the right pace. I have wide experience in meeting adults and teenagers who are going through difficult times in their life. These include but not limited to people who are experiencing
- bereavement
- depression
- anxiety
- Burnout
- feelings of hopelessness
- feelings of being stuck in life
- Relationship issue
I have regular supervision and continued professional development, along with being fully insured and accredited member of the BACP.
Being a person-centred counsellor I believe that given the right environment and conditions, anyone can grow and change. I believe that we can all find the answers we seek, change the part of our life that we need to and become the person we want to be. This can be hindered or suppressed when we lack certain things such as feeling understood and a lack of acceptance from ourselves and others. This can make us act in ways that are not true to ourselves and often this results in hurting ourselves in different ways.
I aim to create an environment and relationship that allows you to feel understood and accepted in a genuine way. When people feel understood and accepted they can start to change, heal and grow. I am non-judgemental and sensitive in my approach.
How to get in Touch
It can be quite an unnerving experience looking for a counsellor, especially if it's your first time. If you would like to get in touch you can contact me through email or telephone and I will help you through the process.
On first contact we can collaborate on a time to have a free 25 minute consultation, where we can ask each other questions and work out if we can work together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I studied at the Metanoia Institute completing the BA (Hons) in Person-Centred Counselling.
I currently see clients through my Private practice face to face and online, as well as working with an EAP supporting small to medium size businesses.
I have worked with many organisations and charities including schools and colleges, Age UK, bereavement services, low cost counselling services and community services. This has allowed me to work with people from a wide cultural background and people who have experience a wide range of issues.
I have worked for an inner London pupil referral unit, providing counselling for students on a one to one basis and in groups.
I have also worked for a female secondary school and a further education college working with students who face various mental health challenges.
I work with clients as single sessions short term and long term work
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
