About me

At different times in our lives, we all need someone to talk to, someone who will truly listen. You might be dealing with challenging family issues, difficulties in a current relationship or grieving a past one, maybe even feeling overwhelmed by a loved one’s addiction or mental health issues.

I’m a qualified psychodynamic therapist providing counselling in the Dorking and surrounding areas. My individual counselling sessions are tailored to your unique needs. Realising you need support can be difficult and often brings up many emotions, but taking this first step means you’re already on your way forward.

I offer face-to-face therapy for anyone unsure about or facing unresolved issues in their relationships, whether present or past. I can provide you with support with various issues that may be affecting your mental wellbeing such as;

  • Unresolved childhood trauma and abuse
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Anger issues
  • Grief and bereavement
  • Addiction
  • Low self-esteem
  • Social anxiety
  • Family conflict
  • Work related issues

If you are experiencing an unwelcome change in our personal circumstances, such as redundancy, retirement or facing a new uncertain future you feel unprepared for my goal is to help you achieve understanding, acceptance, and a life with less anxiety.

Working together in a psychodynamic setting, we explore how early experiences influence your current relationships and behaviour—often at the root of anxiety, low self-esteem, or depression, bringing greater harmony to your personal life and broader relationships.

Starting therapy, especially for the first time, can be daunting, but remember these sessions are yours—you only need to share what feels right for you.

Counselling Sessions and Services

My counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and are open-ended allowing us to work at a pace that best suits your needs. Some clients find that a few sessions are enough, while others choose to continue for a longer period.

As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow their ethical code, ensuring our work is confidential, respectful, and based on a strong therapeutic partnership. I also engage in regular professional supervision to maintain high standards of care.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
