About me
You’re not alone. You don't need to have all the answers. You don't even need to know where to start.
I'm Rachel, a qualified person-centred counsellor offering one-to-one counselling for adults and young people (16+) face-to-face in Chelmsford and online across the UK.
Maybe you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed or stuck in a cycle of thoughts you can't switch off from. Maybe life just feels off, and you're not sure why. Or maybe something painful has happened and you're still carrying the impact. Whatever brings you here, you're not alone and it's okay not to have it all figured out.
Counselling with me is a warm, steady space where you can explore what's going on underneath the surface, in your own time and at your own pace. I'll walk alongside you without judgment, offering space to think, fell, unravel and start to connect more deeply with who you are and what you need.
I work from a person-centred, trauma-informed foundation. This means I won't push, analyse or diagnose you; I trust that you already hold the answers and together we'll create the right conditions for you to find them.
I offer a free 15 minute intro chat to see if I'm the right counsellor for you. Please get in touch if you'd like to arrange this and let’s explore what you need, together.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a First-Class BA (Hons) degree in Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy, and I’m a registered member of the BACP, working in line with their ethical framework.
Alongside my core training, I’ve completed additional CPD in working with bereavement and loss, and I hold an enhanced DBS check for working with both adults and under 18's.
Before becoming a counsellor, I volunteered with Samaritans, offering emotional support to people in distress. This experience deepened my understanding of the power of listening without judgment, something that continues to shape my approach today.
I’ve worked with clients facing a wide range of issues, including anxiety, bereavement, low mood, trauma, identity, relationships, and self-esteem. I’m passionate about creating a space where people feel safe, heard, and accepted just as they are.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Before we meet for our first session, we’ll probably have had a free 15-minute phone or video call which would have been just a quick chat to talk about what’s bringing you to counselling, and see if it feels like a good fit.
Our first full session is really about getting to know each other. There’s no pressure to dive into anything heavy, it’s a chance to start building a connection and get a feel for how we might work together. We’ll talk a bit more about what’s going on for you, what you’d like from counselling, and I’ll explain how I work. You’re welcome to ask any questions, and we’ll go at your pace.
