About me

Hi, I'm Rachael, a qualified therapist, registered with the BACP. I work with adults and young people who are trying to make sense of something in their lives. That might be anxiety, relationships, confidence, change, loss, feeling stuck, or simply not feeling quite like yourself. I’m interested in the person behind the problem and in understanding the wider picture of your life - your relationships, experiences, environment, and the things that are important to you; your story matters. I don’t believe there is one way to do therapy, so I work with you to find what feels useful and right for you.

I’m a humanistic, relational therapist with extensive experience working with young people and adults. I’m particularly interested in embodied, creative ways of working and in understanding the whole person, including what's difficult to express in words alone. I offer space to slow things down, explore what’s going on, and work things out together.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You don’t need to know exactly what you want from therapy or have the right words to explain what’s going on. We can start with where you are and work it out from there. If you think I might be someone you could talk to, get in touch and we can see if working together feels like a good fit.

Professional Experience

I bring over 15 years of experience working creatively and therapeutically with children, young people and adults across educational and community settings. My background as a dancer and creative practitioner, alongside my work in primary schools and colleges, has shaped my inclusive, whole-person approach to emotional wellbeing.

Having worked as a Thrive Practitioner and Senior Mental Health Lead in primary and secondary schools, I have extensive experience supporting the emotional development and wellbeing of children and young people, building trusting relationships and adapting support to individual needs. My postgraduate training in humanistic counselling at York St John University underpins my counselling practice with adults, while my wider professional experience informs my understanding of the importance of connection, creativity, emotional safety and being truly heard.

I am a BACP member and bring together my counselling training, educational experience and creative background to offer a warm, collaborative and person-centred therapeutic space.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
