About me

Do you find yourself in a cycle of anxiety, people pleasing or drowning in self-doubt? Maybe you feel disconnected from your body, your needs and your voice.  Having panic attacks, feel rejected and not good enough?
Maybe you’re low, stuck and unsure what you need to change, fed up with sabotaging yourself. Maybe you're feeling tired but wired, overstimulated you fear you might snap.

Perhaps every day is just a sea of grey, leaving you feeling empty, confused - even angry - stuck and questioning your choices.  Maybe you just can’t feel anything at all.

Whatever it is, you don’t have to face it alone so take a breath and pause for a moment.

Hi, I’m Petra. I believe in the power of human connection and as a therapist aim to create a safe and supportive space where you can unpack and explore the things that matter to you.

It's natural to feel hesitant when starting therapy with someone new. But by working together to build a trusting and open connection, we can create a space where you’ll be able to gain clarity and awareness over the complexities of your life and relationships, a space where you’ll be seen, heard, valued and supported.

Here, there's no judgement. I will meet you where you are on your journey, with compassion and kindness, helping you build the confidence you need to tackle whatever life throws your way. Whether you choose face-to-face sessions, online therapy, or walk-and-talk sessions, together we'll find a way to connect that works for you.

I'm a relatable, compassionate, and down-to-earth therapist, ready to sit alongside you (or walk, if you prefer!)  as you begin to unravel the tangled web that’s holding you stuck.

It’s important for you to know that I respect each client and their story as unique and in recognising that, my therapeutic approach is not one-size-fits-all. By working together - with you as the expert on your life - we’ll explore new insights, develop fresh perspectives and challenge limiting thoughts, beliefs and behaviours focusing on understanding how your experiences have shaped you and your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm a fully qualified and experienced integrative therapist registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Training, qualifications & experience:

  • CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
  • Specialist Cruse Bereavement & Loss Training
  • Diploma in Mindfulness Life Coaching ( ongoing - anticipated end June ‘24)
  • Trained facilitator in delivering psycho - educational course for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse
  • Advanced practitioner of Drawing & Talking Therapy

With over a decade of experience working in primary education, I have an in-depth understanding of the unique, complex challenges and the high volume of demands leading to decline in mental health, manifesting as anxiety, depression, exhaustion and contributing to staff burnout.

My experience includes working at Sutton Women’s Centre, providing long-term therapy for women affected by domestic violence and abuse. I also have experience in supporting women who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

As a Cruse Bereavement counsellor I have the privilege of supporting clients coping with the many faces of grief and loss.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have an extensive experience and training in supporting survivors of childhood sexual abuse including working with survivors of domestic abuse.

Drawing on extensive experience in bereavement counselling, I provide compassionate support for individuals navigating all types of loss -  including complex grief

My experience in grief counselling extends beyond loss of life. I understand the complexities of navigating complicated grief,  including those coping with the aftermath of suicide, a deeply personal and often stigmatised type of loss.  Whether your grief is recent or long-held, I offer a safe space to explore your unique journey with compassion and understanding.
