About me

I am an integrative counsellor and psychosexual therapist offering a straightforward, supportive and non-judgemental space to explore difficulties with relationships, intimacy, sexuality and emotional wellbeing.

My practice is sex-positive, trauma-informed and GSRD-affirmative. I work with individuals, couples and multi-person relationships, supporting people experiencing anxiety, sexual difficulties as well as those navigating polyamory, non-monogamy and kink.

I understand that talking about sex, relationships and intimacy can bring feelings of shame, embarrassment or uncertainty. My approach is collaborative and practical, helping you to make sense of what is happening, understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and develop a healthier and more accepting relationship with yourself and others.

I offer sessions face-to-face in Salford and Blackpool, as well as online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and psychosexual therapist, with a BA (Hons) First Class in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from Lancaster University and a Master’s in Contemporary Psychosexual Therapy (Merit) from the University of Hull. I also hold an FDA in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy and Level 2 & 3 Counselling Skills qualifications.

Alongside my private practice, I work within the NHS as a specialist counsellor, providing evidence-based psychological therapy. I also have over five years’ experience working within and supporting sexual violence charities, developing specialist experience in trauma and the ways that past experiences can affect emotional wellbeing, relationships, intimacy and sexual wellbeing.

My specialist psychosexual experience includes working with erectile difficulties, changes or loss of sexual desire, difficulties with arousal and orgasm, premature ejaculation, pain during sex, performance anxiety, sexual confidence and intimacy difficulties.

I also work therapeutically with relationship difficulties, unhealthy relationship patterns, boundaries, communication, polyamory, non-monogamy, kink and questions around sexual and gender identity.

My practice is supported by ongoing professional development, clinical supervision and reflective practice, and I work collaboratively with clients to develop an approach tailored to their individual circumstances and goals.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer a free 20-minute introductory consultation by telephone or online. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what you are looking for and whether I may be the right therapist for you.

I believe financial circumstances should not be a barrier to accessing therapy. I offer a limited number of concession and sliding-scale spaces for trainee therapists and students, people on low incomes or seeking employment, NHS workers and public sector employees.

Please get in touch to discuss availability if you would like to enquire about a reduced-rate session.

Payment is accepted by bank transfer (BACS).

Further information

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, where you feel heard, respected and able to talk openly about the things that may be difficult to discuss elsewhere. I work actively with clients rather than simply sitting and listening, helping you to understand what is happening and identify practical ways forward.

Sexual and relationship concerns can often be accompanied by shame, embarrassment, anxiety or a sense that something is “wrong” with you. I aim to create a space where these experiences can be explored without judgement, assumptions or pressure to conform to a particular idea of what sex, relationships or intimacy should look like.

I welcome people from diverse sexual, gender and relationship backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ clients, people exploring their sexuality or gender, and people in non-monogamous, polyamorous or kink relationships.

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you and work together at a pace that feels manageable.
