Peter McDermott FdSc BACP
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor with experience of working with different age groups, male and female and all with a unique approach to each individual. I work in an ethical manner following the counselling principles which underpin the building of a therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client. I am based in Runcorn and work out of Widnes and St Helens, I have a flexible way of working to suit clients who may need different dates and times.
I decided to become a counsellor when I left the army and realised that I needed meaning and purpose, counselling has changed my life and given me the opportunity to help change other peoples lives for the better. I have recently had a piece of work published for an online counselling magazine which has been another positive for me, and also I gained important experience which I can explore when working with clients.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a level five qualified counsellor with an Fdsc in counselling and I have over 100 hours of experience working with clients, I have also written an article for an online counselling magazine explaining my focus and passion for counselling. I have studied a wide range of theories during my time training to become a counsellor and continue to research all areas of counselling now I am fully qualified, and this is to further enhance my own development and also to provide my clients with as much knowledge as possible so they may progress in their own journey.
I have other experience due to me working for many years as a prison officer and also a spent a short time in the British army, during this time I learn different skills and witnessed events that have built my character that I have today.
I have completed training both physical and thoretical in health, fitness and healthy ageing, Furthermore I have undertaken training in sexual health so I have a knowlegde and understanding of LBGT and also kemsex parties.
