About me
I’m Paula and I'm glad you found my page. People seek counselling for all kinds of reasons. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed, stressed, stuck or worried about something that is happening in your life, or just not coping and know something needs to change. I will offer you a safe and supportive space for you to be fully yourself, express your thoughts and feelings without judgement and make sense of your emotions in a confidential setting. Together we will explore the reasons for you being here and I will provide compassionate support towards emotional healing, personal growth and self awareness.
What I can help with
In my practice, I help clients navigate many challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, major life transitions, identity issues and bereavement. I have a keen interest in helping individuals going through relationship difficulties. Whether you are facing challenges in your intimate partnership, family dynamics, or friendships, I am here to help you make sense of what is happening, explore the emotional impact and support you to find a way forward. I will listen, support you and help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes.
If you are facing a loss, illness or bereavement, I also have extensive experience and additional training in bereavement counselling and I work alongside a bereavement support organisation. I understand the unique challenges that come with loss and grief as it can affect everyone so differently.
My approach to counselling
I have been where you are as a client and can fully appreciate how challenging it can be to find the right fit, but I also know what a wonderful, rewarding process it can be when you do. I am a person centred counsellor and will wholeheartedly offer a safe, empathetic, confidential and non-judgemental environment and I will welcome you with respect and acceptance. I feel honoured to be a counsellor and am amazed by the resilience and profound healing potential of humans when provided with the right support and environment - I will be alongside you on that journey.
My aim is to help you to gain clarity, develop healthy coping mechanisms, working toward a greater sense of self compassion, wellbeing and self awareness. Whatever you are going through and no matter what you bring to counselling, I will be right beside you in a safe, supportive and caring way working at your own pace.
I offer a free consultation to help you decide if I am the right person for you. During the call, you are able to ask me any questions you may have whilst we explore what has brought you here and I can hopefully put you at ease as to the counselling process.
My practice is based in Didsbury in a private, comfortable and calming setting. I offer face to face sessions. I also offer remote sessions via Zoom for people further afield.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
