About me
As a therapist, I do not believe that you're broken or damaged; seeking therapy shows immense strength and courage. Even looking at this page is something to be celebrated. Our sessions together are journey where I’m your co-pilot—you’re in control, and we navigate together. You are not alone.
As the founder of Transforming Talk and coming from a background in education and youth work I have a deep commitment to connecting to people as human beings. In so much of my work prior to training as a therapist I encountered people who where under the constant pressure of trying to "fit into their role". Trying to work out the expectations of others and adapting themselves to what they thought they needed to be put a massive strain on their overall wellbeing and happiness. With five years of experience working as a therapist I am passionate about helping people to rediscover who they are , leaving shame and doubt behind them. I work with men and and women of all ages and backgrounds. I have a special focus on working with people who are navigating a neuro-divergent diagnosis (such as Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism), and survivors of abuse.
My approach is compassionate and tailored to your needs, ensuring a safe space for growth. The goal is for you to confidently fly solo through life’s highs and lows. Let's embark on this journey. Walk-and-talk, online, and face-to-face sessions available. Please do reach out, I'm looking forward to talking with you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been training in Transactional Analysis for the last four years. I hold a Level 7 (Masters) Post Graduate Diploma in TA from the Wyvern Institute. I am a member and accredited registrant with NCPS. Prior to my training I had been working in the area of mental for over 10 years where I was specifically focused on working with young people.
My primary approach is Transactional Analysis (TA). TA is a comprehensive and integrated approached to psychotherapy. It has connections with CBT and psychoanalytical theory and provides a proven framework to navigating and understanding the process that help and hinder us in life.
I have extensive experience in working with a wide range of people from different cultures and backgrounds. In this context I have seen the TA approach to be highly effective in helping people to work through trauma, depression, anxiety, anger management, and addiction cycles (to name but a few).

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I specialise in working with men through a a wide range of challenges as well as working with people who exist on the LGBTQi+ spectrum, and those with neuro-diversity. Owing to the challenge of living in a society that often seeks to classify a person rather than understand them we can often feel like we don't belong, and working through the challenges associated with feeling unwelcome or unaccepted are significant. My acceptance for you as a person, whole and complete is paramount and I seek to build trust and understanding with all of my clients based on who they are and where they want to be.
My practice is supervised by a senior accredited psychotherapist.

Further information
Before I become a psychotherapist, my background was in youthwork and education. I transitioned to working in coaching and delivering training however, the more I grew into this field, the more I realised people were looking for something more, something deeper.
In particular I realised that there was a significant gap in terms of what people could access in terms of mental health support and what their personal needs were. I also discovered that there is still a significant level of stigma attached to "therapy" in this country and I am keen to over come that stigma with an approach to practice that is both down to earth as well as being compassionate and understanding.
Sessions are held either face-to-face at The Practice Rooms in central Exeter, outdoors (for Walk and Talk sessions) in the country-side surrounding Exeter, or Online via Zoom.
Seeking therapy is a brave step, you are not broken you are bold, and this is the start of a journey toward accessing yourself more completely. I hope to hear from you soon.
