About me
My name is Paul, I am a calm and relaxed therapist but I am direct and get to the point. I am currently accepting new referrals in Chelmsford, Colchester and Online.
I have helped many clients with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, ADHD, Autism, Family and Relationship issues amongst many other things. Perhaps you give yourself a hard time and don't think you can achieve things, or you are unhappy with how you look or you would like to be able to say no to people.
Maybe you simply want to understand more about yourself and how you interact with others.
The type of therapy that I practice is called Psychodynamic. Basically, our work together is deep and looks to identify and highlight unconscious thoughts, feelings and patterns. We examine them together to understand what effect they are having on you today. Using this approach we can learn more about our anxieties and why we may have reacted as we have after a traumatic event.
Therapy is best experienced on a weekly basis although sometimes clients do ask for more. My fees are £55 per session. Sessions last for 50 minutes, which is the industry standard.
Concessions may available to members of the Military, Veterans and Emergency Services.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Masters Degree in Psychodynamic Counselling from the University of Essex. My studies are continuing with a Professional Doctorate in Psychodynamic Counselling, focussing on military veterans.
I have a career background in the military and the emergency services, so if you are from one of these professions you will find we speak the same language.
I have worked with Military Charities, providing help to people who have seen the absolute worst things in life.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
