About me
Hi, I’m Paul. I’m so glad you’re here.
Do any of these feel the feel familiar?
Do you feel as if your life has fallen apart and you’re anxious about what comes next?
Do you feel lost, heartbroken, sad, scared and completely alone.
Do you feel in shock, numb or empty inside?
Are you struggling to accept that they’re gone and don’t know how you’ll cope without them?
Do you feel anger or guilt and find yourself going over the why and what ifs
Do you feel okay one minute but floored by a wave of emotion the next?
Do you find yourself crying constantly or are you unable to cry at all?
Counselling can provide:
An opportunity to talk about thoughts and feelings you don’t feel able to share with anyone else – without blame, pressure of the fear of upsetting those closest to you.
Validation of your thoughts, feelings and experience.
Support to make sense of your thoughts and feelings.
Support in shifting the focus of your loss, letting go of painful memories and allowing room for the positive ones.
Support to help you to forgive yourself, releasing yourself from feelings of guilt or anger
A space to learn how to be kinder to yourself and to give yourself permission to feel moments of relief or joy
Help in finding a way to live within your “new normal”
Learning to grow your life around your grief — finding a way forward without feeling as though you’re leaving your loved one behind.
How I work
My approach is person‑centred, which means our sessions are led by you. When you are going through a difficult time, it can feel hard to find the right words — or any words at all — so you’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We’ll go at a pace that feels right for you.
I offer a calm, supportive space where you can talk openly about your loss without judgement or pressure to “be strong” or “move on”. Together, we can explore the thoughts, feelings and questions that come with loss, notice any patterns that might be keeping you stuck, and gently make sense of what you’re going through. Over time, this can help find ways to cope with the day to day reality of life after loss and help you to adjust to your “new normal”.
About Me
My path into counselling is shaped by real life — growing up in a working‑class family, losing my dad young, facing relationship breakdowns, work stress, serious illness and major surgery. I know what it’s like to feel frightened, overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. Those experiences taught me how important it is to have someone beside you when life feels too heavy, and that’s why I do this work today: to offer a warm, understanding space where you feel heard, supported and never judged.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist who specialises in supporting adults through difficult times, such as grief, loss, and living with long term health conditions, including a cancer diagnosis.
Alongside my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, I regularly update my skills through ongoing professional training, so that I can offer you best possible support.
I’ve worked mainly in the charity sector, including organisations such as MIND, helping people with a wide range of challenges, including generalised anxiety disorder, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, family issues, low self-confidence, anger and addiction. I’m also particularly passionate about supporting men’s mental health.
My approach is person-centred which means that our sessions are led by you. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and we’ll go at a pace that feels right for you.
I offer a calm and supportive space where you can talk openly about whatever difficulty you are facing without judgement. Working together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, identify any patterns and help you to make sense of things and move towards the changes you want.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I offer a small number of low cost spaces for those on benefits or low incomes, students, key workers, and pensioners, as I believe therapy should be affordable for all.

I offer evening and weekend sessions (Saturday mornings) as I understand that it is difficult to take time off work, or you may not wish your employer to know you are having therapy.
Further information
I offer face-to-face counselling in Manchester at my counselling rooms in Prestwich, Whitefield/Radcliffe and Bolton as well as online and telephone sessions across the UK—so you can choose the option that feels most comfortable and convenient for you.
All of my rooms are served by nearby public transport as well as nearby free on-street parking.
I mainly work with older teenagers and adults, providing a calm, supportive space that’s shaped around you and your individual needs.
I also offer a free 20 minute consultation by phone or video call. This is a chance for us to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, for you to ask any questions and for us to see if working together feels right. If we both feel happy to continue, we'll book our first session together. If you don't feel ready or feel like I'm not the right fit for you then there is no obligation to continue, as its more important that you are happy with the counsellor that you select.
Sessions can be short-term or longer-term, depending on what you’re looking for.
I’m a fully insured and registered member of the BACP, and I work in line with professional standards, including confidentiality and ethical practice and I hold and Enhanced DBS check.
