About us
Counselling by and for women in our city centre women only space.
Sometimes it is difficult to talk to friends and family and feel really listened to. Whether it's problems in your personal, work or home life, whether you are trying to deal with the past or something that's going on right now, everyone, at one time or other, needs support. When going through these difficult times having someone to talk to who you can trust, in a safe and supportive environment can make a big difference.
Counselling at Nottingham Women's Centre can help you understand yourself and others better, providing you with the opportunity to gain a new perspective on your situation and help you to make your own choices about the changes you want to make in your life. It can also provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills and strategies to help you deal with problems and move forward.
Training, qualifications & experience
Our service is staffed by a mixture of qualified, experienced counsellors and trainees who are registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) or another relevant body. They are DBS checked, insured and have regular clinical supervision to support them in their work with you. Supervisors are also bound by the same professional Code of Ethics and Practice.
Member organisations *

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
