About me

You go to the GP if you are sick, you might join a gym to get fit, you probably see an optician or dentist at least once a year but what do you do to better understand how to get the best out of the most complicated organ in your body ... your brain?

Brain Train Me provides down to earth, expert guidance in better understanding yourself.  I offer opportunities for you to put key techniques and strategies into practice, giving you the tools you need to achieve emotional wellbeing.

I'm a Senior Accredited BACP Counsellor and have worked in a variety of settings over the past 20 years with adults, young people, and families with a range of psychological difficulties including anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem and self-confidence, emotional regulation difficulties, stress, relationship difficulties and trauma.

Our first meeting is a no obligation consultation where you get to hear how I work, I get to hear about what you want to get from the experience. I will then suggest a number of sessions and plan for our work. See how you feel after that session and if you would like to return to work with me - fab! Research indicates that the single most important aspect of successful therapy is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client, so I encourage you to try out a few counsellors in order to figure out who is best suited to you.

My practice is based in Warfield, serving Bracknell, Wokingham, Ascot, Crowthorne, Reading and surrounding areas. I also offer therapy sessions online or by the phone.

I am committed to the BACP Ethical Framework, and as part of that and I take part in regular supervision. I have up to date DBS clearance and Professional Liability Insurance.

I am open to and working with climate change and climate anxiety.

Training, qualifications & experience

With nearly 20 years experience of working in prisons, a detention centre, mental health services, drug rehabilitation services and children’s and family’s charities, I have had the privilege of seeing how people can transform their lives if they have the right support.

I have experience working with a range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, addictive behaviour,  grief and loss, menopause, trauma, identity, attachment and abandonment, sexuality, parenting, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia and other life struggles.

I work in an integrative way - which means tailoring how I practise based on what you most need.  We are all unique and individual so I adapt how I work for each person.

My passion is helping people discover, develop then create their version of a life worth living with richness, diversity and freedom.

  • Psychology degree (1999 University of Surrey )

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
