About me

Couple Counselling -  Individual Counselling . I am a experienced qualified therapist  having worked with a wide range of issues that include -  anxiety , depression , relationship issues , addiction and bereavement.

There are occasions when family or friends can no longer support - or you are left feeling completely isolated - your GP surgery is always busy and you are left with fear and anxiety - uncertainty can impact on our thoughts and behaviours - resulting in a feeling of isolation  - you may notice your anxiety elevates your depression - or you are constantly  fatigued - this may impact on your personal relationships,  and your ability to healthily function at work - you may feel you have reached  a crisis point . The crisis point can trigger-  unhealthy responses to your distress  - this may include a eating disorder -increased alcohol dependency  - substance misuse - gambling - excessive spending - the fixes are short term and can lead to an overall feeling of hopelessness and shame.

I understand contacting a counsellor might seem overwhelming. I would like to offer some reassurance . I have practiced as qualified counsellor for over a decade - and I was previously employed for over twenty years in the social care sector - I am deeply committed to the service I offer - and the people I work with. I value that counselling can enable a deeper understanding of our struggles and how life events have impacted on our health  -  I offer my client’s my full attention  -  as they acknowledge any discomfort while accessing painful thoughts , memories and  trigger points.

Regardless of age , gender or financial position each of us will be presented with life challenges that can often be overwhelming . It is my belief should we want to make changes - if we begin to look at the things that make us unhappy, or uncomfortable- this is the first step to releasing our authentic self.

My life experience has taught me that sensitive topics-  however disconcerting loose their toxicity once acknowledged . I believe if sensitive issues are hidden they can have a negative impact-  on both our physical and mental health . It is not uncommon for people to believe they cannot share their experience's for fear of being judged . As a counsellor I work to move away from limiting language and judgements that can trap us in our negative thought processes. Counselling can offer the opportunity to release past trauma  - how to manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings , self management to develop skills and techniques that improve mental well being , and improved relationships

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
