About me
Are you finding life particularly difficult at the moment?
Perhaps you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or trapped in patterns that seem impossible to change. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, or racing thoughts that keep you awake at night. Maybe you're finding yourself caught in addictive behaviours, or you've recently been diagnosed with ADHD (or suspect you may have it) and are trying to make sense of how it impacts your life, relationships, and sense of self.
I offer a warm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. Together, we can explore the underlying causes of your difficulties, develop greater self-understanding, and identify practical strategies to help you move forward. My aim is to support you in breaking unhelpful patterns, building resilience, and creating lasting change.
Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience of ADHD, addiction, anxiety, and depression. I understand how overwhelming, isolating, and exhausting these challenges can feel. I also know that meaningful change is possible, and that with the right support, it is possible to move towards a calmer, healthier, and more fulfilling way of living.
I use specialist CBT approaches to support clients with ADHD, combining evidence-based techniques with insights gained through my own lived experience. I also offer Compassionate Inquiry, a trauma-informed therapeutic approach developed by Gabor Maté. This approach helps uncover and process the emotional wounds and unconscious patterns that may be influencing your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours today such as people pleasing tendencies, perfectionism or unhealthy relationship dynamics.
Trauma can take many forms. It may involve what is often referred to as "small t" trauma, such as emotional neglect, chronic criticism, relationship breakdowns, job loss, or ongoing stress. It can also include "big T" trauma, such as childhood abuse or neglect, sudden bereavement, physical or sexual assault, or serious accidents. By safely exploring and processing these experiences, it is possible to reduce emotional distress, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop a greater sense of self-compassion, clarity, and emotional freedom.
I offer a safe and compassionate space where we can work together to understand what may be happening for you at both conscious and unconscious levels. Often, it is only when we begin to recognise what lies beneath the surface that lasting change becomes possible. Through this process, many clients find themselves feeling lighter, calmer, more connected to themselves, and better able to navigate life's challenges and fulfil their potential.
For more information and testimonials from previous clients I invite you to have a browse through my website where you can find more information about me and the way I work.
"Nicola taught me how to control anxiety and allowed me to look at myself in a positive way. I have learned to identify negative thoughts and how to challenge them. My sessions with Nicola also allowed me to discuss a negative period in my life that had been a contributing factor to many of my negative emotions. As a result of the 8 sessions with Nicola I became aware of the negative effects of this period in my life and therefore learned to cope better. Overall it has been a very powerful and liberating experience for me." KT 29
Training, qualifications & experience
Having trained in a number of approaches I will listen to what it is you would like to gain from our sessions together and tailor my approach based on this.
I use a blend of Compassionate Inquiry (a trauma informed approach developed by Gabor Maté), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Person Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis and Creative Therapies (art/images, sandtray) depending on your needs/goals.
Nature Therapy
Alongside providing therapy at my practice and online I also offer outdoor nature therapy (walk & talk) which can feel like a less intense experience for some. This type of therapy can be really effective in working through issues whilst being in the natural world and understanding your own unique connection with nature. Aspects of what we see around us can be used as metaphors to help you describe or explain how you are feeling and being outside in the fresh air can be naturally energising and invite a sense of wellbeing. Studies have shown that time in nature can lower blood pressure and stress hormone levels, reduce nervous system arousal, enhance immune system function, increase self esteem, reduce anxiety and improve mood.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
