About me

Welcome/Croeso! My name is Nia and I'm a Relational Counsellor and Psychotherapist.

There are many reasons people seek therapy. Perhaps you've noticed feeling lonely, even when you're surrounded by others. Maybe a lack of confidence/self-esteem is getting in the way of you embracing yourself and your life. It could be an uneasy sense of dissatisfaction in your relationships paired with a history of painful experiences. Whatever your reason for being here, it takes courage to take the first step toward seeking therapy. I'm glad you found my page.

Life in the 21st century can feel overwhelming. Social media, 24 hour news cycles and divisive politics on top of our personal challenges can feel heavy. Whilst we're more connected than ever thanks to our devices, loneliness appears to be on the rise. Having a space to express yourself freely in therapy without judgement can be very healing. Clients often say they feel lighter after sessions, having talked about painful experiences/feelings they've carried around by themselves. As human beings, we're relational. The power of trust and connection can be wonderful.

It's so important to choose a therapist you think you'll be able to trust and confide in. If you feel ready, I welcome you to book a free introduction call where we can talk about what you'd like from the process and what you need support with. This call will hopefully give you an insight into whether we'll be a good fit to work together.

Sessions take place in cosy spaces at Carmarthen and Llandeilo. There are toilet facilities at both locations and a glass of water and tea/coffee is offered. Sessions are conversational and informal, you are the expert of your life - I will be sitting with you through whatever you're experiencing. I'll be curious to explore with you how you're feeling and its impact on you. I have my own experience as a client, I appreciate how nerve-racking it can feel to take the first step!

If you want more information about the way I work or my availability, send me an email enquiry or call me to express your interest. We can then set up a free consultation call, which gives you a chance to see if you think we would be a good fit to work together. You can then decide for yourself if you'd like to book a session together, there's no commitment to book in if it doesn't feel right. Trust your intuition when choosing a therapist.

I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and align myself with their Ethical Framework. I'm an LGBTQIA+ ally with an awareness of societal barriers that have an impact on many, such as: race, gender, class, ability and ethnicity.

I am a Welsh speaker, therefore I offer my services in Welsh also. Rwy'n cynnig sesiynau yn Gymraeg, ymgynghorwch am galwad rhagarweiniol.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
