About me

Is what I'm carrying ‘heavy enough’ to take to counselling?

Have you found yourself wondering whether what you're carrying is “heavy enough” to bring to counselling?

Perhaps you compare your experiences to others and find yourself thinking that someone else has it worse.

Maybe you've spent much of your life putting other people first, and taking the first step towards supporting yourself feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable.

If what you're carrying feels heavy, takes up so much space that it casts a shadow over other parts of your life, it matters.

If it matters to you, it matters to me.

There is no invisible criteria you need to meet before coming to counselling. I'm not here to judge whether something is “heavy enough.”

I'm here to support you in sharing the weight - exploring where it came from, how it is affecting you now, and whether all of it is yours to carry.

Taking that first step can take courage.

“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.”
- Brené Brown

Counselling can offer a space to begin letting some of yourself be seen.

This might mean talking about the spiralling “what if?” thoughts that bring shame or fear, the thoughts that chip away at your self-worth, or life experiences that have remained unspoken.

It can also be a space to get to know yourself better, make sense of everyday experiences, and explore relationships and patterns that may no longer be serving you.

How I work

Hi, I'm Natasha. Thank you for visiting my profile.

I'm a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the BACP, offering online and face-to-face counselling from my office just outside Warrington (WA12).

Working integratively means I can draw from different therapeutic approaches and adapt our work to you, rather than expecting you to fit into one particular way of working.

We'll work together to find what feels most supportive for you.

My approach

Person-centred
I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space where you can show up as you are. My aim is for you to feel heard, respected and valued throughout our work together.

Collaborative
Counselling is something we do together. We'll explore your experiences and what you'd like from counselling, with your voice and choices guiding the process.

Connection
The relationship we build together is an important part of counselling. As trust develops, there can be space to reconnect with yourself, your experiences and your understanding of who you are.

Areas I can help with

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Some of the areas I commonly work with include:

Grief & loss
Gentle support around the death of a loved one, including complicated relationships, anticipatory grief, miscarriage and pregnancy loss, and infertility.

Becoming a parent
Support with the range of emotions that can come with becoming a parent, including anxiety and overwhelm. We can explore birth experiences, identity and the changes that can come with this transition.

Family issues
Exploring family relationships, dynamics and boundaries that may feel difficult or challenging. This might include estrangement, conflict and people-pleasing.

Life changes & transitions
Support through expected and unexpected changes in life, such as caregiving, retirement, divorce, career changes or redundancy, and experiences that may have felt traumatic.

Self-worth
Exploring the beliefs and experiences that may be affecting how you see yourself. This could include self-doubt, perfectionism, confidence and a critical inner voice.

Anxiety & overwhelm
Making sense of anxiety, overwhelming thoughts and your inner critic, with the aim of helping you feel more grounded and able to navigate what life brings.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
