About me

Hi, I’m Natasha. I understand that people come to therapy for all kinds of reasons, and I recognise that searching for a counsellor can feel overwhelming. Knowing this, I’ve purposely kept my information concise. Please get in touch if you’d like to have a free 15 minute introductory telephone or video call to help you put a voice to my profile.

I’m here to learn about your reason for looking into therapy.

My approach

I’m a person-centred counsellor which means I work with both my individual and relational clients to understand their experiences and feelings. I’m curious about how it feels to be you, offer a non-judgemental space and create safety through keeping our work confidential. I’m open, honest and transparent about what I notice in our sessions as this can be helpful for self-reflection and personal growth. I don’t give advice as I respect and value you as an individual - advice that could work for one person is unlikely to work for everyone.

Instead, I’ll explore with you and support you in understanding what shapes you as a person. I believe that we all have the tools to help ourselves, but at times of difficulty, it can be hard to access them.

I’ll be there with you to discover these again or for the first time, so you have your own unique coping strategies to help you in life. I’ll work at your pace and will be led by what you are ready to talk about. Through regular reviews, we’ll work together to understand how we can develop our sessions, so you are getting what you need to help you reach your full potential, to accept and become your true self.

Relational therapy

With couples, my relationship is to 'your relationship' rather than to you as individuals, which can feel different for those who have had individual therapy before.

Trauma informed

I provide trauma informed care which means I recognise how past trauma can impact behaviours and responses. Therefore I work in a way that acknowledges this to prevent re traumatisation, and instead focuses on building trust and safety.

Our first session

Our first session is a paid assessment to clinically assess suitability for the therapy I offer. This reflects my duty of care to you and to make sure I can support you in the best way possible. We will also walk through the contract so you can ask any further questions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy with a Diploma in Counselling. This means I maintain membership with a professional body which recognises that my qualification and experience of working with clients supports my ability to work in private practice. It also demonstrates my ongoing commitment to professional development, working ethically and remaining competently up to date with any changes in counselling.

I have experience working with clients on a range of presenting issues which include self-esteem, relationship challenges, bereavement, anxiety, suicidal ideation, depression, stress, navigating a neurodivergence diagnosis, and childhood trauma.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
