About me
Hello, I’m Nassos Theodor (he/they). I offer LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive counselling and psychotherapy for adults, face-to-face in Exeter, UK, and online wherever you are. I have lived experience of and am passionate about working with issues impacting transgender people and their families, immigrants, academics, artists, and survivors of childhood abuse.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on multiple therapeutic modalities - including person-centred, existentialism, psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems - and adapt them to suit your individual needs. As a therapist, I am not going to give you advice or tell you what to do. Instead, my focus is on creating a safe, welcoming, non-judgemental space where I will do my best to be present with you and to walk alongside you as you move towards greater awareness of who you are, what has led you to this moment, and where you want to go from here.
Training, qualifications & experience
Before training as a therapist, I spent over a decade in Academia, and another working in the creative industries. I am intimately familiar with both the pressures and joys of intellectual and creative pursuits. Now in my 40s, with lived experience as an immigrant and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I am acutely aware of the fact that people can sit at the intersections of multiple forms of oppression and marginalisation at once. I have had the privilege to work with people from a range of backgrounds and with a spectrum of experiences: trauma and complex-PTSD, neurodivergence, ADHD and autism, childhood bullying and abuse, exploring their gender identity and sexuality, caring for elderly parents, infertility and involuntary childlessness, eating disorders, and more, all against a background of racism, poverty, and discrimination. We are social beings inhabiting a world facing climate collapse and increasing threats to freedom. I do not shy away from how our social and political worlds affect mental health, while I also hold firmly onto our personal responsibility and power to heal.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
