About me
Psychological therapy for teenagers and young adults
Stressed and overwhelmed? If your nerves are shattered with school, college or university, you are not alone. I am a highly experienced counselling psychologist, specialising in working with young people and adults, aged 16-25 years.
Perhaps you are facing an important transition, or a traumatic experience has triggered distress. Maybe you find yourself re-enacting the same painful story, a pattern on repeat. Or an old wound has resurfaced, echoing from the past.
Sometimes, something doesn’t feel okay inside, leaving you unsettled, stuck or disconnected, but it’s hard to identify what’s troubling you. Whatever the case may be, if you’ve been holding things in for a long time, you don’t have to struggle alone.
Psychological therapy can be helpful when difficulties arise. It provides a unique opportunity to untangle and make sense of worries; a space to look beyond the surface towards a deeper understanding. With time and commitment, this can help to lessen feelings of distress, foster resilience and support emotional wellbeing, leading to meaningful change.
I work with a broad range of issues, from everyday anxieties of adolescence, through to more severe and complex concerns, as well as with individuals seeking a reflective space for personal development.
Issues that I work with include:
- Anxiety, emotional overwhelm and burnout
- Self-esteem, feeling not good enough, the inner critic
- Depressed mood, emptiness, dissatisfaction, lack of meaning and purpose
- Bereavement, separation and loss
- Trauma
- Struggles with family, friendships or romantic relationships
- Worries relating to school, college, university or work
- Questions of identity, relating to sexuality, gender or culture
- Spiritual and existential concerns
- Pressures of social media and the online world
Searching for a therapist can feel overwhelming, particularly if you are struggling emotionally. Whether you are seeking support for yourself or as a concerned parent or carer, I understand the importance of finding a good fit with the therapist. I currently work with teens and young adults aged 16-25 years.
Sessions are 50 minutes, at the same time each week. I provide time-limited and open-ended psychotherapy, according to need and preference.
I offer a warm, empathic, non judgmental space where worries can be explored and worked through at your own pace. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and would be very interested to hear from young people struggling with identity based issues relating to culture, gender and sexuality.
