About me

Hello and Welcome,

Life can be unpredictable, and navigating its ups and downs can feel overwhelming at times.  In my counselling practice, I embrace a deeply companionate and accepting approach, creating a space where you can feel truly heard, understood, and valued. No matter what challenges you are currently facing, I'm here to offer you unconditional acceptance and support.

I am happy to work with you on what is affordable as my aim is to make counselling accessible to those who need it .

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 12 years working in the field of mental health and wellbeing and I am a registered member of the BACP qualified up to level 6 with a BSc (Hons) in Therapeutic Counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have an interest in symptoms of all forms of anxiety and depression, Chronic pain/ME/CFS/Long Covid/Fibromyalgia, Grief and Loss

Understanding Anxiety: Anxiety can manifest in various ways, from persistent worry to physical symptoms like restlessness and tension. Through counselling, we can explore the root causes of your anxiety, develop coping strategies, and work towards creating a more balanced and calm state of mind.

Navigating Depression: Depression can permeate every aspect of your life, dimming even the simplest joys and tasks. Together, we'll embark on a journey of gentle exploration, delving into the depths of your feelings with compassion and understanding. By nurturing a space of self-compassion and acceptance, we'll uncover the layers of your experience, allowing room for healing to unfold naturally.

Chronic illness/Long Covid/CFS/ME/Fibromyalgia: Living with chronic illness goes beyond the physical; it can impact your mental and emotional well-being. In our counselling sessions, we can explore the interconnected nature of chronic pain and mental health, work on coping mechanisms, understanding and holistic strategies to improve your overall quality of life.

Grief and Loss: Grief encompasses more than just the death of a loved one; it can also arise from various forms of loss, such as the loss of identity, self-esteem, relationships, or dreams for the future. In counselling, we provide a supportive space to navigate these complex emotions, honour your unique grieving process, and find solace and meaning amidst loss. Together, we'll explore ways to cope with the challenges of grief, cultivate resilience, and embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery.
