About me
Hello, I’m Mudya. I offer low-cost counselling for adults at £35 through my private practice: Sitara Psychosocial Services.
Perhaps you have always been the person who keeps going, and the one others rely on. You may appear calm and capable on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or unsure of yourself. You may find yourself overthinking, pushing difficult feelings aside, repeating the same patterns in relationships or struggling to understand why past experiences continue to affect you.
You may also have felt misunderstood by mental health services, feel uncertain about a diagnosis, or wonder whether neurodivergence, trauma, or longstanding emotional difficulties might help explain some of the patterns in your life.
Therapy does not require you to be in crisis, and you do not need to have a diagnosis. It can provide a consistent space where you can speak openly without judgement and do not have to carry everything alone. We can work together to understand your experiences, recognise patterns and explore what may be keeping you stuck.
My integrative approach is informed by pluralistic and person-centred training. This means I do not use one fixed model or assume that the same approach will work for everyone. Depending on your needs, our work may include emotional exploration, reflection, practical strategies, psychoeducation and pattern recognition. We will review the work regularly so that therapy remains purposeful and relevant.
I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, low mood, trauma, loss, low self-esteem, overthinking, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, neurodivergence, work-related stress, burnout, caring responsibilities, identity and cultural or family pressures.
I also welcome people who identify with, have been given or feel uncertain about a diagnosis of personality disorder. I am interested in understanding the experiences, coping responses and relationship patterns behind a label rather than defining someone by a diagnosis. I can also work with people who have experienced psychosis, unusual beliefs or changes in perception where counselling is appropriate and any necessary mental health support is already in place.
As someone from a British South Asian background, I welcome people from all cultural, ethnic and minority backgrounds. I recognise that culture may shape how we understand emotional distress, family relationships, identity, responsibility and help-seeking. I will not make assumptions about what culture means to you, but it can be included in our work wherever it feels relevant.

Further information
Alongside psychotherapeutic counselling, I offer a distinct Psychosocial Recovery Intervention Pathway for adults seeking a more practical and directive form of support. This may be helpful for people who want to work on recovery goals, routines, confidence, relationships, accessing services, or managing the wider impact of mental health difficulties.
This pathway is separate from counselling and will not be suitable for everyone. More comprehensive information about both pathways, how I work, suitability, fees, availability and the wider practice can be found on my website.
