About me

Hello, my name is Moira Jobson.  I am an integrative psychotherapist specialising in the effects of trauma. This can be your own or trauma that you experienced in others.

I am primarily based in a private counselling space at my home near Henley. I also work from therapy rooms in Henley town centre. I am very familiar with working online using the Zoom platform.

When you are looking for a counsellor it can be really overwhelming. Lots of different faces offering the same assurances. When you are feeling anxious, depressed, low self confidence, experiencing frustrating relationship patterns - unable to work out why - all you really need to know is that there is somebody who will get how you are feeling. And be able to help you to feel different.

I have a lifetime of lived experience on my own healing journey so I can promise you I do understand.

Dysfunction can show up in so many ways. Addiction is one of them. I have a passion for supporting those affected by addiction - in any way - whether that is in your life now or historically.

There are many other ways dysfunction shows up in life. These can manifest in anxiety, depression, grief and loss, ADHD, phobias, low self confidence and many other life limiting emotional states.

Unresolved issues can also show up as self-destructive behaviours that may or may not be obvious to others but cause you harm.

A difficult childhood results in difficulties that we carry with us for our whole lives.

You may have carried with you one or more of the following difficult traits or feelings:

  • Pretending you are always ok - to protect others in some way
  • Feel a heavy sense of responsibility for others - without necessarily knowing why
  • Feel a deep need to control everything around you - even when that need is exhausting you
  • Put everyone else's needs first with no regard to what you need
  • Keep the peace - no matter what the cost to you
  • Be constantly vigilant for other people's moods, body language and tone of voice
  • Be fiercely self sufficient - even when help is offered to you
  • Feel like a child in an adult's body - with no idea why
  • Feel constant and often inexplicable anxiety
  • Struggle to feel heard in relationships.

Difficult feelings or behaviours in adult life are often the result of trying to manage these difficult feelings and behaviours.

I can help you to understand why you are feeling the way you are and how to feel different.

Please follow the link to my website to see both client and colleague testimonials to hear how my clients have recovered from some of these issues.

I am an accredited member of the BACP which signifies a high standard of ethical practice. I work within their Ethical Framework.  I am fully supervised and insured.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
