About me

Hi, I am Mitika, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I have experience in working with anxiety, depression, childhood trauma and ADHD.

Practicing in Central London and offering therapy to people experiencing emotional and psychological problems. Many of my clients have come to me after experiencing panic attacks, low self-worth, anger issues, and low-confidence.

You may have found that you are repeating patterns in your relationships and other areas of your life, which could be stemming from unresolved issues from your childhood. I provide short-term therapy aimed at dealing with an immediate presenting issue and long-term therapy aimed at facilitating change at a deeper psychological level.

I use different psychotherapeutic modalities to create a unique therapeutic approach that focuses on and addresses your own individual needs.

If you have any questions about how I may be able to help you, or you would like to book a session with me, then please get in touch today. You can call me on 07969 965432 or click here to send me an email.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Multicultural Counselling

My interest also lies in exploring the interplay of cultural heritage and belief, and its impact on the individual within a multicultural western society.

Having personally experienced moving and settling into a new country, I have a deeper understanding and interest in working with the issues of cross-cultural differences, challenges faced by ethnic minorities, issues faced by second-generation children from immigrant families, and the impact of trans-generational trauma. My interest also lies in exploring the interplay of cultural heritage and belief, and its impact on the individual within a multicultural western society.

  • I am a member of the BAATN (The Black, African, and Asian Therapy Network).
  • I speak English, Hindi, and Punjabi all with fluent proficiency.

Sexual Trauma for Women

I also have experience in working with Women and childhood sexual trauma. I currently work in private practice and within a specialist NHS psychotherapy service for women providing long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy to survivors of childhood sexual abuse and trauma.

I lean on the foundations of psychoanalytic thought and existential philosophies, offering clients a reflective and safe space for exploration and help them develop an understanding of themselves. This usually involves dealing with the current issues but also exploring past life events, which may have been unconsciously affecting your present-day difficulties.

My way of working might be helpful for people who wish to understand themselves and what troubles them.

Further information

I have much insight into dealing with high levels of stress and expectations, both by the individual and their wider circle. Often one can end up feeling discouraged and not good enough, with negative thoughts about themselves. Starting again can seem difficult and this is where therapy can help to achieve your full potential.

If you have any questions about how I may be able to help you, or you would like to book a session with me, then please get in touch today. You can call me on 07969 965432 or click here to send me an email.
